Bio

I am Jasmine Jeneen Parker. I am 27 years old and I was born and raised in Southwest Houston, Texas. I began my singing career at 11 years old as I started entering local talent shows around the city, many of them leading to booking other private and community events as a singing performer. I continued this way through middle school and high school until I graduated from Sharpstown High School in 2001, and was later accepted to attend Dillard University in New Orleans, Louisiana in the Fall of 2001. I participated with the Dillard University Concert Choir led by Mr. S. Carver Davenport from Fall 2001 - Fall 2002 and had the pleasure of going on a nationwide tour with them during my attendance. In 2003, I moved back to Houston and transferred to the main campus of The University of Houston. While pursuing a degree in Nursing/Health Administration, I continued to sing and was subsequently cast in several productions around Houston. I was cast as Tina Turner and Rose Royce in The Dancin’ in the Street Motown and More Review by Bace Productions from 2005 – 2009. This production, under the creative direction of Mr. Clarence Whitmore and Mrs. Shirley Marks-Whitmore and musical direction of Mr. Sammuel Jackson Sr., has taken place at The Miller Outdoor Theater in Hermann Park every Memorial Day Weekend in May since 1995. In September 2005, I played the character of The Good Spirit in Houston’s first production of He Is, a Gospel Adaptation of The Wizard of Oz, at St. John’s Baptist Church Downtown. Under the direction of Mrs. Dana Joseph by Faythjo Productions, I also participated again in He Is as The Good Spirit at The Carver Community Cultural Center in San Antonio, Texas in December of 2005. In November of 2005, I was cast as the Lady in Orange in Ntzoke Shange’s chorepoem For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf at The Hobby Center Downtown , directed by Mrs. Shirley Marks-Whitmore and produced by Elizabeth Harris and The Sunday Performing Arts Society. Outside of Theater performances, I was a finalist in The Hatters Idol Competition at Club Roxy, hosted by 97.9 The Box, in the summer of 2005 and I was honored to sing the National Anthem at a Lady Cougars basketball game at U of H in November 2006. I also started performing with The Soultry Band at Club Taylor’s for Smooth Groove Sundays, hosted by Kandi Eastman from Magic 102.1. Led by Kollett Duncan under X-Stream Entertainment, I performed with this band at various clubs, restaurants, weddings, private parties and public events across the city of Houston from 2006 – 2008. In 2006 I began an entertainment company by the name of Jazzy Entertainment as an independent vocal performer and song writer. In addition, I am a member of The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers as both a Writer and a Publisher under Jay Jeneen Entertainment. I am currently seeking employment with an establishment that would be complemented by a vocal performer collaborating with an In-House Band. I do not have my own equipment or a personal Sound/ Light Engineer, but I have an amazing voice that will draw new patrons in and keep the regulars coming back for more. My style is like jazzy, antique R&B that can also adapt to different flavors, depending on the fabric of the audience. I have submitted a tentative cover song list that is always open to suggestions and prior preferences from your regular audiences. Thank you for your time and I hope to hear from you soon.
