Shannon Johnson, stage named “SJ”, simply states, “Its my time, I’ve paid my dues, I’m ready and I got that heat, point blank period.” Cocky maybe but SJ believes its confidence. The same confidence that has given her that “IT” factor. She has “IT”, that undeniable, superstar requirements. “ I know I can sing, dance, pop it, twirk it and I’m gorgeous but I also know how to entertain a crowd and that’s what sets me apart from my competition,” says SJ.

SJ’s roster of idols includes: Janet Jackson, “she showed me how to be an entertainer, combining song, dance, sexiness and attitude”. Alicia Keys, “showed me how to blow people’s mind with my voice”. Tamia, “I saw how a lady in the business should carry herself”, and Aliyah, “showed me that I am always sexy n I people should know it without me saying that”. Gaining some knowledge from these artists and collaborating it with her own personality, SJ knew that she would have to show that she is “SECRET SEXY”.

During her younger years, SJ’s goals were always to be an entertainer. She pursued these goals by entering every showcase and talent search competition, annihilating her competition. “When I’m on that stage I’m a different person, the adrenaline is pumping, crowd screaming my name and I just know I must satisfy them for them to support me.” SJ’s dream was almost cut short due to a severe car accident during her teenage years, but instead of calling it quits it helped her to realize how strong she is and how much of a fighter she is.

At age 19 shortly after her accident SJ knew that she had to do more than just showcases and talent shows. SJ put herself in a position to work wit top industry producers like Poli Paul nominated for a Grammy (Christina Millian) and Big Bert. “Working wit Bert whose resume includes Michael Jackson, Brandy etc., and Poli gave me inspiration to work on my own project, entitled “SECRET SEXY”.
