Missy Rogers

Missy Rogers is a singer and songwriter, born and raised in N.Y.C. Missy Rogers was born in Brooklyn , N.Y to cabaret performer Ellen Rogers and bongo player Darlan Rogers. Born into a very musical family, Missy began singing and writing songs at a very young age. Naturally drawn to the entertainment field, Missy was joined to a dance and tap company at the age of 4 where she performed at community events and theatre performances. She had her first modeling job at 9 years old and also had one of her oil paintings displayed at the Guggenheim Museum in Manhattan , N.Y and was written up in the Daily News at the age of 9. From the age of 9 -13 Missy was enrolled in acting and theatre classes at The Main Street Theatre , Roosevelt Island , N.Y., where she performed in local and community Musical Theater performances such as The Sound of Music, Oliver, Peter Pan and The Wizard of Oz. For highschool Missy was accepted and attended the performance arts school Fiorella Laguardia High school. At the age of 17 Missy was accepted by IMTA and had her first acting job in a Walt Disney Promo Film. At the age of 21 Sony record label recruitted Missy as a vocalist in a new all female pop group that they were forming, but it was not the direction that Missy was looking for. After forming several bands and having several run ins with major record companies, Missy decided to learn how to play the guitar and took a different direction as a vocalist, songwriter, lyricist , and musician. Currently Melissa is recording her new EP, due out in October 2014.        Biographical information for Melissa can also be found on http://www.mtv.com/artists/melissa-rogers/
