Bio

Born Enrique Gonzalez on March 31st in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, Mr. Rhyme (Rhyme Rebel) had already been rapping since the age of 12. Being raised in tenements in Sunset Park, gave Mr. Rhyme the arsenal and tools he needed to become an MC. His story is not different then that of any other family on welfare except that he choose to write about his life, about what he saw, the drugs, the poverty, the breakdown in his community, the obstacles his family went through, and the fierce realities of being an underdog in this society because of your last name and the color of your skin. Big Daddy Kane, LL Cool J, Nas and KRS were some of the artists who inspired RR to pick up a pen and a pad. However, his biggest inspiration came from his cousin Jimmy (Sketch Fatal) Gonzalez. As a kid RR robbed his cousins rhyme book and studied it to great detail, eventually memorizing and spitting his words. Soon enough RR caught the rhyme bug and began writing rhymes of his own. Today, Mr. Rhyme, initially influenced by both salsa and hip-hop, fuses a new syncopation into the hip-hop realm with poetic, cultural and philosophical attributes of a renaissance man. While blending images of harsh reality with danceable tracks, RR maintains loyal to the credo of cultivating music through lifes experiences. Mister Rhyme's carefully crafted lyrics and his free-style abilities have allowed him to share his views and reach the masses, at different venues, regardless of his intentions. From love to socially saturated comments on the everyday struggles of life, many of his songs have remained solid and to the point. His entourage The Weapon symbolizes, the pen, the pad, a Mic, and his voice. These are all weapons to fight back criticism, stereotypes and to take control of your life, where so many of us feel we have no control. According to RR, My greatest weapon is my mind and only I have control of that. Mr. Rhyme has developed to be one of the most respected and influential underground artists in Brooklyn.
