Mistress Maria

Hailing from an Island better known for eccentric Latin singers the likes of Ricky Martin; Puerto Rico’s Mistress Maria have found a way to branch off from the norm and create a sound that has their local islanders dropping their bongos and throwing up their devil horns. Formed in 2006, these childhood friends have been honing their chops and playing shows, while taking on the role of godfathers for Puerto Rico’s budding Metal and Hardcore scene. After several self-released demos, the band has inked a deal with Ignite Records: making them the first underground act from Puerto Rico to sign with a label.

With their debut EP, “Psycho. Mellow. Dramatic”, Mistress Maria have combined spastic guitar work, technical drumming and throat shredding vocals, into one explosive album that should be kept away from open flames and small children. Recorded in their home island and mastered by Bobby Torres (Chimaira, Underoath), the band delivers 6 songs that will take listeners on a roller coaster ride full of riffs that make you head bang and jazzy breaks that would have John Coltrane snapping his fingers.

Already having shared the stage with bands like Lamb of God, The Black Dahlia Murder and The Chariot, Mistress Maria now look to give kids a taste of what they have been brewing by bringing their 5 man circus stateside in support of their debut release.
