Can't Go Wrong With It (2006)

“Can’t go wrong with it”- Words spoken to Steve and Ish while sitting in a bar discussing their style of Rock and Roll with a friend. They instantly knew that was to be the title of the CD they were going to begin recording the following day.

For the members of New York City’s Mitch Gannon, music is a meld of modern rock with the rhythms and stylings of Rockabilly and Surf. Think of a head on collision between James Hetfield and Brian Setzer with Chris Isaak as the first on the scene. Think of a brew of two fisted rhythms with an aggressive, swinging beat and a touch of guitar twang for extra flavor.

These sounds can be heard on their new CD Can’t Go Wrong With It, or at one of their live shows. You’ll also be able to check out their twisted sense of humor. Take Superduperstar, their spoof of egocentric artists, which includes the boast “I’ve got a hot rod faster than your ma”, or Sexy Girlfriend’s “ I see on TV they can be real fun/ I’m gonna buy a book and learn how to talk to one”.

People seeing them at their shows can count how many drums sticks Steve can break during the set, or pull out dollar bills for Brass Pole Boogie, Mitch Gannon’s take on the futility of trying to pick up strippers at a strip club. Not that the guys have a junior high school mentality. “What’s wrong with just having a great time with some music?’, says Ish Morales, their frontman. “You have to be serious about what you do, but you can’t take yourself too seriously.”

Ish is joined by drummer and stick breaker Steve Selezniov, writing partner and guitarist Mike Moore and Bassist Gus Laserna. They’ve combined their musical styles and life experiences to create the entity known as Mitch Gannon. Who is Mitch Gannon, you ask? “Try introducing yourself to some girl at a bar or club and saying ‘my name is Ish’, and she’ll say ‘Mitch?’ You’ll just give up and say ‘uhhhh Yes! My name is Mitch!’ Besides that, there is no Mitch Gannon, but I’ll answer to that name if you call me that. So will all the other guys in the band.”

Swinging beats, twangy yet muscular guitars, smart with just enough smart ass to keep you on your toes, added to some good old American Rock and Roll ... you can’t go wrong with it.
