Bio

Mittens are a trio from Boston who aim to make nice musical music that your mom might actually like: melodic, enduring, and concise. Their smart and simple pop extends a nod to Squeeze, Nick Lowe and has been compared to the stripped-down styling of The Violent Femmes. The band is two parts Arizona ex-pats Tom and Andy, who write the numbers, and native Bostonian Nick, keeper of nice beats. Introduced in the summer of 2004, Mittens debut, self-titled full length on Boston's Man With A Gun Records charted all the way up to #55 on CMJ’s Top 200. Since then, Mittens have taken Boston by storm and have become one the town’s most beloved local indie bands. Most recently, Mittens won Best New Local Act of 2005 in the WFNX/ Boston Phoenix Best Music Poll.

Produced and recorded at Zippah Studios by the legendary Pete Weiss, whose past credits include Al Kooper, Willard Grant and The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Mittens follow-up their two prior EPs with 13 tracks of poppy goodness and feature a special guest appearance by Anthony Rossomando (Damn Personals) on trumpet. Having shared the stage with the likes of Ted Leo and The Pharmacists, Ben Kweller, Ben Lee, Bobby Conn and local heroes Buffalo Tom, and Runner & The Thermodynamics, Mittens have charmed both fans and critics alike with their eponymous debut and catchy live performances.
