Bio

I am Mizz-T. I write and perform hip-hop music. I've had a love for music since birth. I first showcased my talent when I was 11, at a school talent show. Soon after, I performed at many local events while living in Oklahoma City. The next year I moved to Chicago, where I began to work on my craft more as an artist. As I progressed in school, I met singer/songwriter Joseph Gabe and began performing at various community events. This is where I developed the name Mizz-T. I was hit by a car, at the age of 13, and suffered from injuries that should have killed me instantly. It resulted in brain damage and a fractured skull that caused full paralysis over half of my body. I was unable to write, walk, move the right side of my body among many other abilities. Recovery was expected to last for at least a year, but within weeks I recovered fully and beat my paralysis by the grace of God. The doctors told me that I wouldn't be able to participate in any physical activities for at least a year, if not longer. People began to refer to me as a miracle child. It was then that I realized my only outlet was through music.

I am now CEO of Leverage Entertainment(Est. 2010). A record label managed by myself and Marshall Mason(Flame Dash G), established in Oklahoma City. I have encountered many situations where my music and knowledge hasn't been a factor due to the fact I am a woman who doesn't fit the normal stereotypes of women in the hip hop industry. My talent should be worth as much, if not more, than my appearance. Being a successful business woman in a male dominated hip hop industry is what will set me apart from other female and male hip hop acts. I am a real artist with a real passion and work ethic towards hip hop music and good business. My confidence isn't hidden and my talent is evident. My influences include personal conflicts and situations, Lauryn Hill, TLC, Kanye West, Oprah, and Beyonce to name a few. A huge influence to my music was Chicago and you can hear that in the many styles I use in my songs. The name Mizz-T didn't come from anywhere in particular. The misspelling of Z's rather than S's is to express individuality in my persona and music. And the T is simply the initial of my first name, Tyler.

Since I've become serious with this music movement, I have been very active in the local music community scene by performing and appearing at various music events. Some places include Langston University, Java Dave's Cafe, Bricktown Live, 405 Pride Fundraiser, Trina's Black Girls Rock concert, and much more. I was crowned the 'Best New Female Artist of 2010' at the OKC Hip Hop Honors and 'Best Female Hip Hip Artist' at the Platinum Mic Awards(2011). I also topped the local ReverbNation Charts peaking at #1 for 6 months straight and peaking the global charts(all genres) in the top #200. I've released 5 mixtapes, thus far, and have an album releasing soon in 2015. This is only the beginning.
