Bio

A product of North Shore/Galena Park area, a suburb of Houston Texas, Mizz Young (Erica C. Young) grew up as the daughter and sister of preachers. She attends University of Houston Downtown pursuing a Theater Arts degree and attends Je'Caryous Johnson's Acting School of Houston Texas. She is currently on tour with the Practice What You Preach inspirational musical, written and directed by Ronald D. Lindsey for Ten Below Primetime Productions. Her contagious personality and uncanny songwriting abilities matured while honing her vocals in her brother's church praise team where she leads both praise and worship Gospel contemporaries with a powerful yet sultry voice. Her unique eye for fashion would bring her high acclaim where ever she went. This combination of style and natural talent would deem her the next "Pop Diva". While her mainstream inspiration comes from her idols, Beyonce, Jill Scott, and Eyrkah Badu, she embraces the soul-freeing sounds of Bad Company, Steely Dan, Pink, Meshell Ndegeocello, Kim Burrell, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Justin Timberlake, The Black Eyed Peas and the likes. Her debut single "Got Da Sweets" is a candied confection of a contagious chant and club-ready bassline. Her goal is to redefine the sound of popular music.
