Feeling a bit camera shy

R&B singer MK had his first major breakthrough on the Kenyan music scene as the winner of a radio talent search competition hosted by Capital FM 98.4 in 1999 (Nairobi, Kenya). As the winner, he got to record his first track WHY, a soulful R&B ballad that he composed about a broken heart. The track was produced by Tedd Josiah of the now defunct Audiovault Records. The song captivated the hearts of many and garnered itself a place in the hall of fame at Capital FM after winning the battle of the bands undefeated for one week.

MK then took a break to focus on his studies but continued to record additional unreleased tracks in the meantime. These included KANYONI; a funky remake of the traditional Kikuyu folk song co-produced with Wyre, he then composed two songs A MATCH MADE UP ABOVE and YOU which were beautiful wedding dedication songs to his sisters and most recently the hip track NI WEWE TU; a catchy tune in Swahili and English featuring Collo of Kleptomaniacs. He also collaborated with Prezzo and Wyre on the track MALAIKA MAMA. All tracks were produced and mixed by Tedd Josiah.

In addition to being a singer, he composes his own songs and occasionally contributes to the production of his music. He plans to work on a debut CD in the near future and also hopes to write & produce songs for fellow artists. He describes music as the universal language of the world.
