Bio

About mndwrx
The Baltimore based band MNDWRX (pronounced mind works)consists of Johnny Thompson, vocals, Joe Marks, lead guitar, President X , percussion and Roger Thompson, bass. Johnny and Joe first met in the band Prodigy in 1991. Although Prodigy was short-lived Johnny and Joe began writing original ideas and worked on a song that would later become an inspiration for a bigger project. The members of Prodigy parted ways with Johnny and Joe pursuing different paths in music. Joe focused on writing and composition and Johnny fronted several successful local bands. It wasnt until 2003 that Johnny approached Joe and they started to write and record the material that is on the CD Uncommon Criminal. The name of the band was derived from the original tune from Prodigy called MNDWRX. After several bad experiences with drummers they decided to take control and pursued the use of drum machines to write and record with. Inspired by Joe Satriani (in which he records with drum machines) they found that not only will the machine never get drunk or be forced to quit by his wife but that they could get very elaborate rhythm structures. They could also play in unusual signatures that only the most versatile drummer would be able to handle. With about 7 or 8 originals they were invited to play a private party. They enlisted the services of President X to DJ the machines and provide backup vocals and also brought Johnny's cousin Roger on board to play bass. They played publicly in December 2004 and soon gave audiences a taste of Metal MNDWRX style. They enjoyed 1 or 2 shows a month before winning a battle of the bands contest at a local venue. They received their first break when asked to open for national Metallica tribute band Battery. Based on the reaction of the 1000 people there MNDWRX was going to be a force to be reckoned with. They are currently playing as many shows that their schedule allows and are seeking professional management and promotion. They have written and recorded 4 songs to be on the next CD. 2006 figures to be the year that MNDWRX gets heard by the masses and these guys cant wait to deliver it to them.
