Biography

“It's All About the Beat,” and she's not just talking about drums. Mo believes that two things make a song work: drum beats and lyrical cadence. Her philosophy is simple : “The percussion moves your body; the words move your soul.” This is more than evident in Mo's unique brand of Sensual Pop-Rock. Her well-crafted melodies showcase a voice that resonates with intense power and emotion.

"Six years, in pain… I'm losin' my mind, again and again."

There's no part of Mo's life that she won't write about. “I believe that you have to write as if nobody you know will ever hear your song. That way you can tell the true story, the way you see it, the way you lived it.” Mo wrote her first song lyrics when she was eleven years old. That was the same year she started singing in the school choir. It was also the year that she was told that her voice was too loud. Mo always knew her voice had power, she just didn't realize how much. Constantly told to “keep it down” and realizing that it simply wasn't possible, Mo finally found two things that would shut her up: a blank sheet of paper and a sharpened pencil.

It wasn't until Mo turned fifteen that she began to give in to the power of her voice, and this time, people listened. She was discovered by famed vocal coaches- Ron Andersen (LeAnn Rimes) and Seth Riggs (Whitney Houston). Taking her under their wing, the duo taught her to harness that strength.

Continuing to follow her musical passion, Mo traveled to Italy to study music at La Studio Di Brittanica, financing her education by playing and singing in the clubs of Florence. Soon thereafter, she found herself touring Germany where she partnered with Christian Seidal to shoot her first music video. When she was offered a job performing with Joe Cocker at the legendary Royal Albert Hall, Mo immediately headed to London. This show helped her to realize one of her dreams…signing her first record deal. With Viper/ Sanctuary Records, she was introduced to and worked with three of her favorite collaborators, Andrew Roachford, John William, and Matt Prime.

After completing her self-titled EP, Mo parted ways with Viper and came back to the United States where almost immediately upon her arrival in Los Angeles, one of her songs found its way into the hands of David Foster and the producers of "Pop Stars", on The WB network. The song was recorded by Eden's Crush and Mo became the youngest songwriter on that show. Just over a year ago Mo became one of the three finalists in the Pantene Pro Voice Competition for singer songwriters 14 –24 across America. Mo was flown to New York and performed with Vanessa Carlton, Mya and Tweet on Mtv2 and Mo's song, “She's Out Of Control” aired on the Pantene Commercial.

Residing in Los Angeles, Mo continues to play shows and has currently signed a production deal with Peter Amato and Jess Sutcliffe. Amato has written and produced for The Baha Men, LeAnn Rimes and more. Sutcliffe is a 14 times Grammy nominee mixer/engineer who has worked with Prince, The Rolling Stones and more. Mo's track  “Numb”  was recently featured on the hit TV mini series “Beach Girls” , starring Julia Ormond and Rob Lowe.

Lyrics

Numb

Written By: Mo Costin

Verse:It’s an ordinary day they say no way then everything turns to grey
Was it just a dream I saw pretend
A cloud of smoke then it ends
I’m dancing to the beat in time their rhyme but I can’t find my feet

Chorus:I just wanted to believe
Just wanted to believe in everyone but me
I just wanted to become
Just wanted to become more than just anyone
I thought I had it all
How could I be so wrong
Pretending for so long
Now I have become so numb

Verse: I’m a puppet on a string they play I sing like an angel without wings
A magician without smoke, a lie a joke with no soul behind his cloak
Like a poison in my brain the bite the pain washes away my dreams like rain

Chorus: I just wanted to believe
Just wanted to believe in everyone but me
I just wanted to become
Just wanted to become more than just anyone
I thought I had it all
How could I be so wrong
Pretending for so long
Now I have become so numb

Middle-eight: I’m dreamin believing of what’s meant to be
I touch it and taste it won’t let it kill me
I’m runnin and runnin I want to slow down
I’m letting their voices tear me down

Chorus:I just wanted to believe
Just wanted to believe in everyone but me
I just wanted to become
Just wanted to become more than just anyone
I thought I had it all
How could I be so wrong
Pretending for so long
Now I have become so numb

Let Love Wash Over Me

Written By: Mo Costin and Nick Whitecroft

Verse: In my life there was only you
You gave to me one reason to
believe
Faith became my anchor in
the sea
I let love wash over
I let love wash over me

Chorus:I Let love wash over me
I let love wash over me

Verse: I thought that love, love was
more than guaranteed
But You showed me glory
When I was in need
Then you became my anger
And my pain and I lost to you
I lost to you again

Chorus:I Let love wash over me
I let love wash over me
I Let love wash over me
I let love wash over me

Verse: I thought that time, time
Could heal the deepest
Wounds
And even angels cry
But there's no use in holden on
We gotta move along somehow

Chorus:I Let love wash over me
I let love wash over me
I Let love wash over me
I let love wash over me

BETTER DAYS

Written By: Mo Costin and Rafael Feldman

Verse: Lets take a walk down this long winding road
You’ve been falling for nearly two years
I know you feel like you’re out in the cold
It’s hard to breathe while you fight back the tears

Let’s run away to a magical place
Where I’ll try to put a smile on your face
You’ve got to fight to put aside all your pain
And take my hand and you’ll see

Chorus: Better days on the way
Try to think of the words I could say to you
Better days never thought your life would be this way

Verse: What do you feel when you’re lying awake
How do you come to the choices you make
So I pray I pray that you’ll stay
And take my hand and you’ll see
I have strength enough for you and me

Chorus: Better days on the way
Try to think of the words I could say to you
Better days never thought your life would be this way

Bridge: Everybody falls sometimes
And if we find the reasons why
Together we can make it right
We can all make it through
Don’t let it get to you
Lets make a difference tonight

Chorus: Better days on the way
Try to think of the words I could say to you
Better days never thought your life would be this way
So I pray that you’ll stay
Find the strength to fight another day
Be brave I will be right by your side
