ModeLand

ModeLand

BandRockJam

The band draws from a multitude of styles; blues, jazz, country, but it’s as simple as soulful Rock n Roll with a groove you can’t climb out of.

Biography

All of the current members of ModeLand met while at school in London, Ontario, yet the full band was not realized until much later. The core of the band was formed when Chris Seon who just started playing guitar and Colin McKenna joined forces. They immediately began writing and performing acoustically in and around the London area. The next to join was Pat Graham on the drums, when he by chance ran into Colin & Chris jamming on a porch; the boys plugged in and ModeLand went electric. The band eventually moved to Toronto, performing often, all over Ontario. While recording their first demo they recruited their producer, Gerry Fox to play bass and things started to take off. The most recent member of the band is Joy Watson on keys & organ, who joined while visiting from Vancouver. She sang as a guest for a show while in Toronto and never left.

Since then the band has traveled across the country and back again playing music together. They live together under the same roof loving, hating and fighting each other as their music grows. They have performed all over Canada and are now looking for more.

The band draws from a multitude of styles; blues, jazz, country, but it is as simple as soulful Rock n Roll with a groove you can’t climb out of. Experimentation comes naturally and jamming can occur anywhere. ModeLand plays mainly original material with one or two covers often sewn into a typical show. Their repertoire continually grows, along with their abilities and the band itself.

Again

AGAIN

Even the bench is empty now, the bus is gone headed out of town
And I don’t think it’s coming back again,
So I rest my head on the window, really try to enjoy the ride,
But it’s just that this mind is back on you again,
I just sit and watch the dashed-divide blur to a line
And I know, I know that on the other side leads back to you again

It leads back to you again
It leads back to you again
It leads back to you again
Again

You know I don’t mind if you take your time,
It ain’t that bad behind this smile, in front of me again
Maybe you turn your head and spare another day,
But if it’s change that’s coming get out of the way
‘cause I feel it, coming again

I feel your rhythm dragging behind, it’s been a while,
Now have you forgotten the rhyme?
Shall I sing it to you again?

Shall I sing it to you again?
Shall I sing it to you again?
Shall I sing it to you again?
Again.

Bring It On Home

BRING IT ON HOME

I can’t believe it could stray way, away,
From me, further than I care to see
But you won’t find me hanging on, and on,
If it’s leaving it’s already gone

Though if I found it I would
But now I wonder if I could;

Bring it on home,
Bring it on home.

Change is eternities slave, this way,
The whip of time keeps it working straight
So don’t try to keep hanging on, and on,
If it’s leaving it’s already gone

Though if I found it I would
But now I wonder if I could;

Bring it on home

Shadow of a Doubt

SHADOW OF A DOUBT

Guess I didn’t understand so completely
The things that I though were meant to be
And over those hill tops I can’t quite see
The flood that’s collecting, it’s gonna break free

And for now I must be moving on
A cigarette and in my head some sad song
The road back around is so…

Long when your feet are heavy and in your heart there’s something wrong
And the sun must be hanging low in the sky, almost gone
Because that shadow of a doubt is certainly growing long

Rising was a brand new sun
You’ll never see it running from the dawn
Still looking out though boarding time has come and gone
Back somewhere something must have gone wrong

And for now I must be moving on
A cigarette and in my head some sad song
The road back around is so…

Long when your feet are heavy and in your heart there’s something wrong
And the sun must be hanging low in the sky, damn near gone
Because that shadow of a doubt is certainly growing long
