Model K is a new Los Angeles based Alternative/Chamber Pop/Indie Rock band that is quickly making a name for themselves on the LA music scene.

Model K is the result of a collaboration between longtime friends Marcos Menendez and Alessandro Mastrobuono who first met in New York City where they played music together after class at Purchase College. When the two found themselves both living in Los Angeles, they continued to play together on a regular basis, but It took them several years of jam sessions in their Echo Park compound before they finally thought to actually write songs, form a band, and try to make a name for themselves as musicians. Menendez originally hailing from New York City, and Mastrobuono hailing from Chicago, are joined by keyboardist Russell Rinker, Nicolette Dimaggio on bass, lead guitarist Adam Kurtz, and Dustin Prince on drums.

With a literary and poetic sensibility, many of Model K's songs are based on books, movies and classic plays. Their original songs create a melodic and intricate soundscape with an underlying & subversive call for peace and change. The band is named after an early computer, the Model K, which was built in a Kitchen (Hence the K) out of tubes, wires and wood and performed simple functions and graphics; but serves as a symbol for a programmable future of progress and possibilities.

With a whole new batch of amazing songs since their 2008 release of their eponymous debut EP, Model K has a quite a dynamic live show in place, and are certainly a band to watch out for. With soaring melodies and harmonies, quiet verses, loud choruses, extended instrumental jams and explosive guitar solos, Model K has been pleasing the small crowds at local LA clubs like: Hotel Cafe, The Viper Room, Knitting Factory, Spaceland, Silverlake Lounge, Bordello, and many more. In addition to playing live shows, Model K songs have been played on Los Angeles radio stations, Indie 103.1's local music show Check one...two, KROQ's Locals Only, and in multiple markets across the country as part of the Undiscovered radio network's syndicated radio shows and Numerous internet radio stations across the globe.
