Bio

Although they first presented themselves as Philadelphias answer to the deconstructed blues rock sounds pioneered by Jack White and The Black Keys, Modern Colour expanded their sound by listening to hip-hop, neo-soul, Americana, and funk. They embraced these genres by working and performing with artists representative of each one. By the time they recorded their debut EP Rally at the Summit in the Spring of 2012 they had already established themselves as a powerhouse band in the Philadelphia music scene. This was done inside of a year and half after their founding. Modern Colours live sound is full of sonic experimentation and the melding of genres.

The band is fronted by guitarist/vocalist Stephan Sirochman, a native of Philadelphia. After going on tour with Davy Knowles and Back Door Slam as Davys guitar-tech, Stephan knew he had to find his way back on the road. Weeks after he returned from tour he met drummer Thomas Weir and Bassist Chris Boyle, a pair that started writing music together at Penn State while earning their Bachelors degrees. The trio has since expanded into a larger group of rotating musicians including hip-hop artists, horn sections, and keyboards.

The band is releasing their debut EP Rally at the Summit in the Fall of 2012, followed by an east coast tour. Modern Colour thrives on the live stage and no two shows are ever the same. Philadelphia musician Kevin Frank had this to say about them, "I witnessed Modern Colour destroy the stage with high-energy, youthful, positive Rock-n-Roll. Good stage presence, lyrics, song arrangements, and most importantly, a ton of originality!"
