Based out of New Orleans, Louisiana, the Modern Swing Quartet is a young, fresh, hip collective of musicians who has cultivated a unique sound in the jazz quartet setting. This group of up-and-comers is new to the scene, but experienced in the tradition of all sorts of jazz. When hearing a set from MSQ, you will not only experience the hard hitting swing off of Karl Tietze's ride cymbal, but also the tickling of the ivory's on sensual ballads from Chris Coriel, groovy basslines to dance to by Jacob Hubbs, and soulful saxophone expertise by Nabil Muquit. The Modern Swing Quartet is not just your average jazz quartet off the street; they are paving the way and innovating jazz for audiences entrenched in the tradition, but for those that would just like to have fun.
