"The subtle textures and deceptively simple melodies of Modern Conversation's debut E.P. 'About Time' underscore several penetrating stories of the human condition as envisioned by songwriter and lead singer David Courtenay. A sense of wry humor keeps every song afloat on a fascinating blend of rock, reggae, jazz and maybe even a little Tin Pan Alley on occasion. Instantly accessible, the songs reward repeated listens with new depths of meaning."

Bio
Formed in the spring of 2008, Modern Conversation is a mixture of West Coast style with Midwestern charisma. Songwriter and singer David Courtenay migrated to Chicago after playing up and down the California coast as a solo artist. In search of a more vibrant and collaborative music scene, he soon met percussionist Devoney Dean, keyboardist and songwriter Nathan Stout, and bassist/guitarist Jeremy Schmidt. Blending their influences of rock, folk, reggae, and alternative, Modern Conversation has been playing staple Chicago venues like Cubby Bear, Martyrs', Goose Island, The Store, and Uncommon Ground for the last year and a half. They are currently in the studio working on their first EP and gearing up for the summer.
