Bio

Florida based five piece powerhouse, “Modern Day Escape has an infectious sound and draws in the crowd regardless of what market they are playing.” – Shane Jay Hayes (Essential Media Group.)

Modern Day Escape, comprised of vocalist James Vegas, guitarists Nxe and Marti Rubels, bassist Shep and drummer Corey, have made a name for themselves on a DIY ethic. Shortly after forming, the band began working on their breakout self-titled EP, recorded with Cameron Mizell at Change Studios in Orlando, FL. The EP, released in May of 2008, helped to skyrocket the band into the music scene, reaching as high as 4th on Smartpunk and garnering the attention of fans and labels alike. Closing out 2008 with a bang, vocalist James Vegas was featured on the cover of AMP magazine as a part of their “Young Guns Salute (21 Bands That Will Own in 2009).” Their song “Girls Like You” was also included in the compilation that accompanied the magazine.

There was no slowing down in 2009. Signing to Standby Records in May, the band quickly began work on their debut full length, House of Rats. The album, which was recorded with Johnny Burke at Chin Music Studios (Luna Mortis, Hed (PE)), was released in July of 2009. “Writing House of Rats was our way of clearing the air. We aren't kids anymore, and we're here to stay. We've grown and we don't need the anger any longer, now it's about so much more,” says guitarist Marti Rubels. The first single and video off the album, “Maybe Holding Hands Wasn’t Such A Good Idea,” has only added to the band’s buzz and success.

Touring almost non-stop and sharing the stage with bands like Sugarcult, Aiden, and Death By Stereo, Modern Day Escape shows no signs of slowing down. “It’s surreal. Going from seeing one kid mouthing the words, to a whole room chanting a chorus is like watching your dreams come true,” says vocalist James Vegas. The band has already hit the road in 2010 for a nationwide tour with I Am Ghost and The Becoming. And it doesn’t stop there. They recently wrapped a summer tour with Black Veil Brides on the Hot Topic Presents: The Sacred Ceremony Tour, playing to sold out crowds nationwide.

This is only the beginning. Hitting the road nationwide, and worldwide, in 2010, Modern Day Escape is set to take over. With their contagious rock ‘n roll sound and undeniable stage presence, this is a band you will not soon forget.
