Modern Paranoia is a blistering blend of punk rock, synth lust, and pop beauty. Their live shows are unparalleled in energy and excitement. From the grittiest analog noise to the most refined melody, Modern Paranoia spans an entire lifetime of music in a single moment.

Biography

Modern Paranoia began as the band Soul Stash parted ways with their lead singer Chris Bartlett 2009. The four members who stood in the wake of the split, Tanner Hendon, Joel Williams, Clay Houle, and Marshall Coats, knew they were on the cusp of a completely different sound but they needed the right member to complete it.

After holding open auditions with no luck, they put an add on craigslist. "We weren't getting anywhere with our open call so we decided to use modern technology", says bassist Marshall Coats with a laugh, "The first one to respond to the ad was Quinton. The first moment I talked to him I knew we had something special."

And that was that. Q became the final member of a band now called Modern Paranoia. The sound was complete and they got to work writing and rehearsing.

Modern Paranoia recorded its first EP with the help of young Atlanta producer Wyatt Oates at Tree Sound Studios in their home town of Atlanta. They then enlisted the help of another Atlanta music veteran, producer Dan Hannon (Manchester Orchestra) to help them record 3 new tracks, but the band was still in search of that special song and sound. It seemed like the band was growing musically faster than they could lay the songs down or record them. Finally that magical moment arrived, a demo by the name of “I’m A Bird “.

Modern Paranoia wasted no time and took the song to producer Dallas Austin (No Doubt, Lenny Kravitz, Madonna, Duran Duran, Fishbone). They felt Dallas’s knowledge of synthesizers and dance rhythm is exactly what they needed. Modern Paranoia was not wrong(and seldom is). The final product, the single “I’m A Bird”, mixed by Platinum mixer Mark Needham (The Killers) and mastered by Stephen Marcussen (Foals, Gogol Bordello, Rolling Stones) is an undeniable dance smash.

In 2011 Modern Paranoia will continue promoting their 2nd EP, I’m A Bird. The single “I’m A Bird” is already capturing the attention of Alternative Specialty Show Programmers all over the US and winning Specialty Show battles night after night. Next for the band is a college radio campaign, followed by a national tour and then the release of their second single “I know”. The band is on the Atlanta indie label Madison Records and is managed by Fontanell Management (Collective Soul, Rehab).
