Bio

Nominated as Montreal's top spoken word artist (Montreal Mirror, 2011), Mtis multidisplinary artist Moe Clark fuses performance narrative with traditions of circle singing and spoken word. With a background in voice, spoken word, and visual arts, she employs a looping pedal to add multi-layered vocal structures to her performance. Her poetic songs resonate with the power to heal, to celebrate spirit and to connect with authentic purpose. Apart from performance work, Moe works as a community educator to facilitate voice, writing and spoken word workshops in high schools and local communities to promote literacy and creative expression.

Moe has appeared on stages locally and internationally. In 2008 she released the album Circle of She: Story & Song (April 08) which toured Canada, Brazil and Belgium and in spring 2014 shell release her second album Within. Her first book of bilingual poetry was published through Maelstrom Press in May 2013. Highlight performances include the 2010 IDEA World Congress: Art for Social Change (Brazil), 2013 & 2009 Maelstrm Revolution Potique Fistival in Belgium, and opening for Tanya Tagaq at the 2012 Aboriginal Music Week, Manitoba. Moe is a sought after public speaker with feature talks at TedXMontreal (May 2012) and a commissioned performance for Canadian Olympic Athletes at the Olympic Summer Games in London, U.K. (July 2012). In November 2013, she directed the 10th Annual Canadian Festival of Spoken Word, and the first ever bilingual edition, highlighting indigenous languages and translation. Her professional work weaves together with her educational work, merging writing, spoken word and contemporary performance.
