Bio
In just over a year, the Mo’ Folkies have firmly established themselves as one of CT’s most infectious and promising string bands. Hailing from the colorful hills of Ansonia, the Mo’ Folkies are five spirited and skilled musicians: Jesse Henao (guitar & vocals); Johnny Lee (mandolin & vocals); Nick Krashefski (upright bass); Mike Paolucci (banjo); and Katie Wilson (fiddle & vocals).
Since forming in December 2005, this eccentric bunch of pickers has already performed at dozens of bars, functions, and festivals from New Jersey to Boston, and everywhere in between. Whatever the occasion, the Mo' Folkies are notorious for getting the audience up and dancing with their driving, high-energy music.
Fueled by an insatiable love for great tunes and good times, the Mo’ Folkies offer a vast and popular repertoire of several styles: bluegrass, folk, blues, jamgrass, fiddle tunes, etc. Collectively, the band’s influences span generations of both traditional and modern styles of Americana—Bill Monroe, Thelonious Monk, Yonder Mountain String Band, the Grateful Dead, and Allison Krauss, to name a few.
Knowing when to be rowdy, when to bring it down, and when to just shut up and pick, it’s no wonder the Mo’ Folkies always serve up a fun and engaging show!
