Mohair Sam Blues Band

Mohair Sam Blues Band

We have a ton of fun playing classic-style jump blues with an emphasis on rarely heard cover tunes, along with occasional forays into soul, R&B and jazz. If you don't like to dance, don't call us.

We're a bunch of old folks that like to play together and get people to dance.

Larry Janzen played in San Francisco clubs in the '60's. Jimmy Long played music professionally around the South for over 30 years before retiring. Joe Manning hung up his bass for 20 years to dabble in atmospheric physics, and Helen has been involved in music all her life (and has taught voice and directed a gospel choir for the last six years), but this is her first band.

After a chance comment by Helen on LiveJournal (OK, it was really more of a whine), Joe Manning realized that he was the mild-mannered magnet that could bring these four together.

After several months of Tuesday night rehearsals, we've knocked 'em dead at the Huntsville Public Library.
