Bio

Mojo Filter’s roots date back to the spring of 2006. Bassist and founding member Chris Johnson, placed an on-line ad looking for like minded Beatle loving musicians. After receiving several responses and jam sessions, a band was formed. The band played extensively in the Dallas and Ft. Worth area for the next 3 years, under a different name as a Beatles Cover band.

After several line up changes, Dean Rodenroth joined the band as a quality Lennon character. Dean, who has over 25 years as a guitarist and vocalist, brought his Rickenbacker, Vox Amplifier and Lennon persona, complementing Chris’s McCartney-esque vocal style and intricate bass lines.

In the summer of 2009, the band was in need of a lead guitarist. Dean recommended his friend Chris Hardy. Chris, trained in jazz, classical and flamenco styles of guitar, was a natural fit to handle the unique guitar playing style of George Harrison. At the exact same time, Dean also recommended Juergen Horn for the keyboard duties. Juergen Horn, trained in classical, blues and jazz, joined the band and assumed the musical director. Juergen has been a professional touring musician for the last 20 years, brought his unmatched perfectionism to add the missing pieces to the Beatles repertoire by adding strings, horns, piano and other effects that are difficult to replicate in a live setting.

To complete the line up, Wade Brantley became the drummer for Mojo Filter in December of 2009. Wade, another acquaintance of Dean’s was the perfect fit to fill the Ringo position. With his 21 years behind the kit, Wade is a dead ringer for Ringo’s drumming styles and vocal ranges.

Once the line up was complete, the band decided to change their name to MOJO FILTER, a reference from The Beatles classic song, Come Together. It was also at this time, that the decision was to change the direction and perform a full tribute show, which includes the familiar outfits that the Beatles wore during their live performance years, as well as replicating the music faithfully by using period correct instruments, including Rickenbacker guitars, Hofner Basses, Gretsch Guitars and Vox Amplifiers.

The members of Mojo Filter have been in bands that have opened and worked with national musical acts that include: Heart, Jerry Lee Lewis, Lonestar, Diamond Rio, Kelly Clarkson, Emerald City and many more.
