"Killer Slide Player"

Philadelphia's own Mojo Stu has just released REAL HOUSE BLUES on Mudbone Records, and it is indeed a veritable plethora of foot-stompin', good-time blues! A fine vocalist and a killer slide player, Stu reaches back to the Delta to bring the grooves of the past masters to life with a contemporary turn to atisfy today's listeners.
In th old days, folks danced to blues music at juke joints, rent parties, fish fries, and the like. That's the sonic spirit conjured up by Mojo Stu and his mates on this CD. stu did some woodshedding with 'Philadelphia' Jerry Ricks and the feel of the old-time bluesmen is all over this set, even though the songs fit well in today's world. Mojo's upbeat, spirited playing and vocal style drive these cuts along and you can't help feel what he's feeling while you listen.
We especially liked the slide guitar work on 'Got A Love', and the Skip James-ish picking on 'My Mama She Don't Love Me', which also contains some tasty harp licks, too. Our favorite was the only true slow blues tune, entitled 'Don'y Worry'. It is a tale deicated to those who have battled disease or anything ctastrophic in their lives, and it gives a good perspective on just how to look at things when all seems lost.
Thsi is certainly an ambitious set from a talented player and writer. Anyone who wants to take a look at a new direction of the music of the old masters oughta check out Mojo Stu and REAL HOUSE BLUES...until next tie, Sheryl & Don Crow. - Nashville Blues Society

"One Man Streetcorner Band"

In the tradition of rascals such as John Mooney and Preacher Boy, Mojo Stu has fashioned acoustic blues into a unique and personal vehicle. Not afraid to couch his core sound of steel-bodied guitar and burly, congenial vocals in cushions of drum machines, soulful backup choruses, and occasional synthetic tracks. Stu injects a vitality and individual character into traditional form and makes a whole lot of fun music in the bargain. This is an 'up' session of originals that will likely stick with you once you've given it a chance. stu is a one man street-corner band for the new century and it's well worth the efoort to run this disc down.

"Rockin' in Philly"

Mojo Stu is a regular performer in the Philadelphia, PA area. Stu plays great blues, and solos for coffeehouses, festivals, concerts, and just about any venue that wants some blues. I got a buddy who plays in Philly and he says that Mojo Stu just rocks them up there! This is his 3rd CD and he plays acoustic guitar, slide, electric guitar, bass, sings, keyboards, and even ukulele. every song on the CD is original and shows some fine vocals
and great guitar licks. even got some 'Star Wars' tones out of that slide...very cool. A fine recording from a seasoned veteran. Nine cuts on the CD from Mudbone Records, tis is a toe-tapper, nod your head, and groove blues CD.Check it out for yourself @ www.realhouseblues.com Tell him Blue Barry sent ya, and ask him to come to Knoxville and play for us! - Smoky Mountain Blues Society
