Bio

Amsterdam-based 5-piece britpop band, fronted by Belfast-born lead-singer Felix Maginn release their fourth cd “The Time Has Come” to celebrate their 10th anniversary.

Known for writing radio-friendly songs, on their new cd, the Moke sound is bigger and yet more transparent than ever before.

“With new guitar player Robin Berlijn on board, there was hardly any need for me to play electric, and I’m more than comfortable to stick to my trusty old Gibson acoustic guitar“, the singer with the commanding voice explains. Take two guitars, backed by a rhythm section with a powerful ‘classic rock’- feel, and add to this the eclectic electronic input of Eddy Steeneken, and what you get is the instantly recognizable – and yet uniquely European – sound of Moke.

Since the release of their debut album “Shorland” in 2007, selling over 40.000 copies (gold record), their career has endured the ups and downs that all musicians know are par for the course in an ever changing music industry.

Moke has a wealth of experience behind them, earning their well-deserved reputation as an exciting and dynamic live-act – performing on the main stages of Holland’s biggest festivals such as Lowlands and Pinkpop (the latter backed by the internationally acclaimed Metropole Orchestra) supporting Keane in Germany, Paul Weller (The Jam, The Style Council) throughout Europe, as well as Amy Macdonald and Razorlight.

Media savvy and highly-marketable, Moke has had regular appearances on mainstream, prime time Dutch television, with Karl Lagerfeld using the band to promote his “K” line of clothes in the Benelux countries, leading to Felix being awarded to the title: “Best dressed man in the Netherlands” in 2011, by the Dutch edition of Esquire Magazine.

Always taking a keen interest in production and design of their cd’s, they asked award-winning photographer Anton Corbijn to shoot the front cover of their second cd, “The Long And Dangerous Sea”.

In 2016, with a new guitar player on board to add more fuel to the fire, Moke is ready to break out and go west.
