Bio

The word mokkadi loosely translated means unclean. To Romanian Gypsies, mokkadi is more about taboo, rules, rituals and spells to protect themselves against evil, filth and the ills of the world. Music and the industry surrounding it, is full of doubt, jealousy, addictions, anger, lies, manipulations and placing importance on the image of the artist rather than the music that flows out of them.
Mokkadi transcends all that.
Mokkadi cares for only one thing, empathy for the pain of being human.
Each song is a protection spell for your soul, taking your spirit to a higher place of power.
Their music is a seduction, a spell, opening your mind and pulling you along into their emotion.
Artists in the true sense of the word.
Mokkadi transcends time, space, generations, labels and categories, into a place all their own.
To listen is to know.
Mokkadi was born in January of 2003 and from the beginning Sean Ores and Max Monzon had one thing in mind, to create a serious and dedicated band. The first 2 years the band devoted themselves to finding exposure. They played shows mainly in the Chicago metro area such as: Champs (where the rock band Disturbed was discovered), O'Malley's, Subterranean, Elbow Room, Night Caps, US Beer Company and several more. Mokkadi has also performed at several local radio station events, and also has had airplay for two of their songs, Lies and Unreal on stations Q101 and 94.7. In July 2005, Mokkadi was chosen to play at the Mobfest showcase, which gave them their first opportunity to reach many record labels including Atlantic and Columbia. In October of the same year the band made a connection with an independent record label called Grimmyville, a recording studio that mainly features rap and r&b artists, they are the first rock band to work there. The demo is being mixed and arranged by a legend in the recording industry, Rick Clifford, the former chief engineer of Death Row Records, and two time Grammy Award winner. Clifford has formerly worked with 2Pac, Snoop Dog, Donna Summers and the Red Hot Chili Peppers
