Mokomokai

Mokomokai

BandMetalRock

Heavy Metal thunder inspired by the likes of Judas Priest, Deep Purple and Black Sabbath. Awesome live act, endless energy, huge sound, very riffy and memorable.

Biography

Mokomokai started in 2011 in Peterborough as a wicked fun heavy rock band, and quickly picked up steam. We write the music we want to hear, not what we think people want. We figure that if we dig it, someone else will too. Current members include John Ellis on guitar/vocals, Jeremy Pastic on bass and J.P. Contois (Originally Emmott Clancy) on drums. We all share a love for old school heavy metal, and try to bring the same passion and energy as the old greats.

Lyrics

Pick Your Poison

Written By: John Ellis

Get out of my head, you scavenger you extrovert. You waste away and drag me with your corpse.
Your hide is bright, your lips are so enticing, but you’re black inside and your voice is cold and hoarse.
Ungodly scruple leads me off the beaten course.

Pick your poison, we’ll get the night in. I’ll get in your skin, while you weep within.

Unsightly lies, unprecedented chaos, I’m helpless now, my life is in your hands. My soul is bound, as much as born of sorrow, slips through the night, like crumbling desert sands.
Deaf by the silence of your thunderous commands.

Pick your poison, we’ll get the night in. I’ll get in your skin, while you weep within.
Tread on your path, like a whirlwind. No hope to get it all back, once I’m in your head.

Motorbike Messiah

Written By: John Ellis

Blessed rolling chassis, V-twin sacred heart, the hand of the almighty rides tonight in steel and leather.
No tomorrow, let your banners fly!
Hope you know where your allegiance lies!

Only now in the shadow of doubt we have faith somehow.
Why oh why did we ever deny the will we have now.
The thunder rolls and disrupts the poles razing thrones to shale.
Only now petrified by doubt does justice prevail!
Motorbike messiah’s on the trail!!!

Minister of justice, chrome and rage!
Come to take it to the final stage!

Enemy

Written By: John Ellis

Freedom is a nightmare
To a poor soul who just don’t care.
Son of father’s despair,
Walking on ice, nose in the air.

Come back to me,
Tonight destiny
Is your enemy.

Stake your claim in this mess,
Too afraid to raise the flames.
Young but weak and useless,
Lived or died and nothing changed

Come back to me,
Tonight destiny
Is your enemy

Roots

Written By: John Ellis

When you come a’callin’ I’ll be waitin’ as you’re crawlin’ on your belly, to try to get me!
I can’t believe it’s been so long, and I only just realized what I’ve been doin’ wrong.
Wish I could pinpoint just one thing I did that gave me all the days from that day to this.

Just clingin’ to my roots, it’s all I ever knew how to do.
And I mistook an open mind for a place to brood.
I didn’t know that you were so right, so I averted my deceivin’ eye’s
And I mistook a closed cage for an open mind.

Picture perfect you is now eternally entombed in your decision to play the victim.
The grass is greener on this side when you’ve got love to give. I’d rather fail at life than be so indecisive. I thought I knew what for, I thought I had it right. But all that old remorse is comin’ back tonight.

Just clingin’ to my roots, it’s all I ever knew how to do.
And I mistook an open mind, for a place to brood.
I didn’t know that you were so right, so I averted my deceivin’ eyes.
And I mistook a closed cage for an open mind.
