Florida born and Chicago drawn, Molly Bass comes from a background full of hardcore sounds and high energy. Heavily influenced by the occult and darkwave, Molly Bass had experienced multiple electronic scenes but succumbed to the 808's of Juke drums and high hats. She is a member of Chicago’s finest DJ and production crew, Ghetto Division.

I am actually from Florida originally but I made Chicago my chosen home about four years ago. I grew up surrounded by rednecks and old retired people in Sarasota and I always dreamed of living in a city alive with culture especially nightlife! Chicago is most definitely that! A lot of people here tend to take it for granted, but this city is rich with so much musical/artistic talent. There is something to do 7 days a week, clubs are open late and the underground/afterhours scene is real as f*ck. Also the friends I have made in this city are like the family I always wanted. The food is great and the architecture and seasons are beautiful too!

Je suis en fait de Floride, mais j’ai fait de Chicago mon choix de ville il y’a environ 4 ans. J’ai grandi entourée de bouseux et retraités à Saratosa et j’ai toujours rêvé de vivre dans une ville ou la culture est vivante, spécialement le monde de la nuit! Chicago est ça, définitivement! Beaucoup de gens ont tendance à le prendre pour acquis, mais c’est réel cette ville est très riche avec beaucoup de talents artistiques/ musicaux. Il y’a quelque chose à faire 7 jours sur 7 les clubs sont ouverts très tard et la scène underground est putain de bonne. De plus les potes que je me suis fait ici sont comme la famille que j’ai toujours rêvé d’avoir. La bouffe est super, L’architecture et les saisons de même.

As a teen I was listening to a lot of Break Beats, Dirty south rap, Miami Bass, New Wave, Dark Wave, Punk. One of my favorite groups was/is Jackal and Hyde they are like industrial Miami Bass, I just have a fondness for anything Ghetto, Dark, and Techy. When I was still living in FL a close friend came home from visiting Chicago and told me about this « Juke party » He had been to, he was like, « You are going to be all about this sh*t » I got on youtube and starting finding walacam videos and found Rashad, Gantman, Traxman, Spinn, and the Booty Call crew on myspace. I was obsessed grabbing everything I could get my hands on I mean I felt like the person who discovered America for the first time! It was a big factor in me deciding to move to CHI, I feel so blessed to be a part of this now!

Ado j’écoutais beaucoup de breakbeat, dirty south rap, miami base, new wave, dark wave, punk. UN de mrs groups préféré était / set Jackal and thé Hyde ild sont comme de la Miami bass industrielle Je craque trop pour tout ce qui vient du Ghetto, dark et techy. Quand j’habitais encore en Floride un ami proche est venu à la maison juste après avoir visité Chicago et m’a parlé de « Juke party » ou il avait été, il m’a juré que j’allais adorer, dès lors je suis allée sur Youtube et je suis tombée sur Rashad, Gantman, TRaxman, Spinn et Le Booty Call crew (de Paris). J’étais obsédée pour choper tout ce que je pouvais de ce style, je em sentais telle la personne qui a découvert l’Amérique tellement j’étais excitée. Ça a été un gros facteur de décision pour venir à Chicago, je suis honorée de faire partie du mouvement maintenant !

Gothenburg, Sweden's The Embassy get tricked out in some ghetto house fabulous by Chicago's rising dance producer Molly Bass, on her kick drum-kitted remix premiere of, "Everything I Ever Wanted". The Florida by Chi-town underground artist trades in 808s for a 909 sampling of Chicago Juke drums and high hats in excess to give you more than you could have ever dreamed of or wanted more of, from Sweden's ambassadors of indie.
Molly kickstarts the vintage house drum beat to the guitar and shimmering chime cue. The classic Chicago rhythm machine peps up the BPM tempo but breaks it down for the song's lyrical thoughts of wants. "Couldn't put my finger on it, didn't know what the hell I wanted to hear, couldn't take my eyes away from you". These lulls bring attention to the sand drifting keys and echoing string reverberations that get met with samples of the sea, and it's passing tides.

The moments of reflective respite from the heavy dance beat highlight the endless summer feel from Fredrik Lindson and Torbjörn Håkansson's original. Molly throws the pendulum back and forth between the amped up glossy grease of Chicago's techno histories and the developments of lush rhythmic restraint of The Embassy's Balearic-indie Euro dance. As The Embassy has confessed to us before, sharing their love for the 80s decade with "The Sound of 1988" Selector feature, even Molly's remix approach remains classic. Across the pond, Ms. Bass brings back that touch of the hand-written, small-batch, white label pressed flavors from 1992's booty house shakers.
