Biography

With much to announce about love, life and youth, the singer-songwriter, Molly Bea declares her independence with her self-penned and confident debut release entitled “Over You,” produced by Soren Anders of Shimmerplanet and recorded at Soundtrack Studios in New York City.

Molly Bea’s musical journey began with singing and piano in Little Rock, Arkansas and led her to New York City when she was sixteen. She graduated from the Professional Performing Arts School where she further developed her writing skills and style. In May of 2006, Molly graduated Magnum Cum Laude from Marymount Manhattan College, holding a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology.

Molly Bea confesses, “When I sit at the piano, I truly have to be inspired before I can play a single note and then I begin that musical, magical songwriting process as the piano becomes my home until the song is complete. When studying psychology, I found myself in a very prolific state as I connected with the light and dark aspects of the human condition.” Ultimately, the songs on her debut release are about the human need to control or be controlled.

Molly Bea’s acting career began as Baby June in the production “Gypsy” at the University of Arkansas. From there, Murry’s Playhouse became her home, until she continued her musical and acting training in New York City. She studied at the HB Studio, Weist-Barron Film School, Michael Howard Studios, Alvin Ailey Dance and with the acclaimed Luigi at Luigi’s Jazz Centre. She has performed at the Actor’s Institute and has been cast in numerous theater/film productions, including Law & Order:SVU.

Molly Bea has an infatuation with all music genres. She culls inspiration from 1970’s rock bands like The Eagles and singers such as Joni Mitchell while finding more contemporary insight from bands like Radiohead and songwriters such as Fiona Apple.

Molly Bea may be a newcomer to the music stage, but this young songwriter conveys wisdom, intuition and boldness about the human condition. Her lyrics and her harmonic language are both rich and textured with complexity. Fans that know her well are intrigued by the dark qualities of the music written by this typically outwardly jovial songstress.

Experience Molly Bea on her debut EP and Music Video “Over You” released by Shark Meat Records (www.sharkmeatrecords.com) on June 3, 2008 and available globally on iTunes Stores.

You Can't Bring Me Down

Written By: Molly Bea

You say it always rains on you
And the sun always shines on me
Well if it should rain on me
I'll serenade the clouds

You can't bring me down
without a fight
You said goodbye, but I'm alright

Keep your lies to yourself
The sun always shines on me
Even when you lie to me
I always see the truth

You can't bring me down
without a fight
You said goodbye but I'm alright, I'm alright.

You bring confusion yeah
Dont bring me down

You can't bring me down
without a fight
You said goodbye but I'm alright

Even when it rains on you
the sun always shines on me
Even when it rains on you

Over You

Written By: Molly Bea

You're stuck beneath the water
You won't sink or swim
In a pergatory, you can't breath again

All I ever wanted was to love you
Now my words are haunting me
And I'm, I'm over you

I compromised to my surprise
And you sold me short
You can talk a good talk
Your so self-absorbed

And all I ever wanted
was to love you
Now your words are haunting me
And I'm, I'm over you- over you

Im changing the spell
Im changing the spell
Im changing the spell

You took for granted
my peaceful ways
In a bed of black magic
You won't sleep again

All I ever wanted was to love you
But now my words are haunting me
And I'm, I'm over you

oooh, oooh, oooh

Fleur De Lis

Written By: Molly Bea

Lillie, look what you’ve done
You see you’ve gone too far
I turned the mirror on you
And you had to break it

Lillie you tore me down
With no apology
You made me feel so low
And I can’t take it

Fleur de lis
Let me be
You stung me once
And made me see
You can’t control me
You’re not that pretty

Lillie when you come clean
I know you’ll find a friend (someone you can control and push around)
And when you do
I hope you’re happy

Fleur de lis
Let me be
You stung me once
And made me see
You can’t control me
You’re not that pretty

Isabelle

Written By: Molly Bea

There is a girl named Isabelle
Men get lost in her spell
She has to get their name and number
Or she might lose her mind

Isabelle your insecurity
Is tearing my love away from me
If you ever respected me
Then you will let him be
Ohh, let him be

There is a girl named Isabelle
In her eyes I see a living hell
Dark and lost, but she will never see
She is an aphrodisiac

Isabelle your insecurity
Is tearing my love away from me
If you ever respected me
The you will let him be
Ohh let him be

Don't apologize save your alibis
Stay away from him
He is not your trophy
Don't apologize
Save your alibis
He is not your trophy
He is not-- your trophy

Saturday

Written By: Molly Bea

Saturday we said goodbye
And I thought I might cry
Saturday we said goodbye
That was that no need to fight
And I wondered what it's like
Never being by your side
And I wondered what it's like
Never kissing good

Saturday we said goodbye
You were wrong and so was I
Saturday we said goodbye
You got your coat and you took a flight

And you traveled over seas
Away from love you had to be
But someday you will agree
You miss kissing, you miss kissing me

You miss kissing, you miss kissing
Kissing me
You miss kissing, you miss kissing, kissing

ba da de da....

And I wondered what it's like
Never being by your side
And I wondered what it's like
Never kissing good, never kissing good,
Never kissing....good-bye!
