Molly Magdalain is the real thing . . .

Biography

The career of Molly Magdalain has been more like a twisting road than a straight line. Over the years, she has been involved in many different projects ranging from fashion design to painting, writing and many other things. The underlying theme throughout everything she does has always been social consciousness and the need for positive change in the world – whether it’s internal or external. There are no limits to her work or the scope of her ideas and interests.

Magdalain formally entered into the world of songwriting around 2001 when the music scene was just starting to shift from a focus on major labels to independent artists. She is very grateful that she has retained the rights to her own work and developed it at her own random and winding pace because that has been honest – truthful and organic. She looks forward to collaborating with artists and thinkers of all kinds to expand our concepts of ‘business’ and ‘industry’ so that together we may continue to create a more incredible and imaginative world.

Why (what do you think)

Written By: Molly Magdalain

I’ve got a million little pieces,
I’ve got a thousand stairs to climb.
I’ve got a dream that lasts forever
& an emptiness I can’t define –

what do you think as you look out the window,
what do you think as the world passes by,
what do you think, do you know why?

why do I cry, why do I fear.
why do I care it doesn’t matter anymore
yes I feel like steel but I’m still here --

what do you think as you look out the window,
what do you think as the world passes by,
what do you think, do you know why?

I’ve got a million little pieces,
I’ve got a thousand stairs to climb.
I’ve got a dream that lasts forever
& an emptiness i can’t define –

why, if I don’t know why

The Open Road

Written By: Molly Magdalain

It's cold in Colorado and now I'm ready to leave. For 3 weeks we'll be spirits on the mythic open seas.
On the road like Kerouac, we'll trace our truth across this map.
Through canyonlands and deserts till our troubles take us back

to the open road, this is where I find the truth of my soul.
there's no place like my home on the open road.

we sleep along the shoreline and dream in waves and wind. Like gypsy souls we travel, most of all we look within. Reflections I'm confronted by will make me change as much as I can. In the mirror of these strangers I see clearly who I am

on the open road, this is where I find the truth of my soul.
there's no place like my home on the open road.

we stop to feel the sunshine and the ground in joshua tree. I try not to read the road signs pointing towards reality. It seems so long that I've been gone, it's just so much that I have grown. It seems like I could spend forever here upon

the open road, this is where I find the truth of my soul.
there's no place like my home on the open road.

we are all alone, we are all looking for a home
we are all traveling this road

on the open road, this is where I find the truth of my soul.
there's no place like my home on the open road.

Pretender

Written By: Molly Magdalain

I”ve got a long way to go
I’ve got to walk this line,
each step is like a lifetime all alone.
I’ve got a hard seed to sow.
I need that middle ground
but so far I”ve only found
the emptiness between the extremes

I see a million faces I could never remember,
sometimes it breaks my heart cause I’m a great pretender,
yes I’m a great pretender

I”ve got a whole lot to owe
for all the life I’ve washed away,
for every single night and day
that I’ve spent in my head.
I’ve got a strong need to grow.
I”ve got get out of these places
find a way to make it all make sense

I see a million places I could never remember,
sometimes it breaks my heart cause I’m a great pretender,
yes I’m a great pretender

oh I don’t want to be here,
I don’t want to know these days,
I just couldn’t be here, I ~
I just couldn’t be here, why do I have these things to say?
I don’t know why

I see a million faces I could never remember,
sometimes it breaks my heart cause I’m a great pretender,
yes I’m a great pretender

I’ve got a long ~ way to go ~

Never Believe

Written By: Molly Magdalain

Late in the morning in the moment I awake
I remember this thing, I’m tired of these exceptions
Got caught up in the current and I let my fear carry me
Interpret these deceptions, give me something I can feel
Show me what it means that I could hold on for so long
When it’s all wrong, but it won’t stop

If I would never believe, I
I would never believe, I
I would never believe I can be anything at all but I’m wrong

Every single day I try to move on
From the haunting memories of these incorrect perceptions
Another goal that I achieve is only what I let myself believe
I try to realize that I could be strong
If I stop holding back my fears and I can make these connections
Imperfections aren’t the only thing that’s real

But I would never believe, I
I would never believe, I
I would never believe I can be anything at all but I’m wrong

Maybe life is only questions
Maybe everything is real
But I get so tired of always second guessing
What I feel and I feel

It’s always something when I’m wading through the world
When I’m lookin’ in the mirror I get lost in these reflections
I forgot what makes me feel I can do anything and everything
Imagine there’s a way that I can stand tall,
Feel the high without a fall so I can face these objections,
They’re not goin’ anywhere

If I would never believe, I
I would never believe, I
I would never believe I can be anything at all but I’m wrong

Late in the evening in the moment I retreat
I remember this thing

Without You

Written By: Molly Magdalain

I can’t sleep here in the silence
It was so good to see you again
And I”ll pay the price tomorrow
But I don’t care until then
All these years that I’ve thought about you
All these years that I’ve been alone
Cause I can be myself around you
It’s a freedom that I’ve never known
I don’t wanna talk anymore, I don't wanna even the score
I don't wanna live without you, anymore
And I don’t need to go to extremes
To show you that the life of my dreams
Is right here in your arms

I don’t wanna live without you
I don’t wanna live without you, without you, anymore
I don’t wanna live without you
I don’t wanna live without you, without you, anymore

I thought that you were gone once,
but you were always here
And I can tell that we’ve both grown up
Now I know how much I care
I can’t imagine a life without you
I can’t imagine a life alone
Cause we can take the road less traveled
And find our way back home
I don’t wanna talk anymore, I don't wanna even the score
I don't wanna live without you, anymore
And I don’t need to go to extremes
To show you that the life of my dreams
Is right here in your arms

I don’t wanna live without you
I don’t wanna live without you, without you, anymore
I don’t wanna live without you
I don’t wanna live without you, without you, anymore

No other words will explain
No other mind works the same
No other love could be so perfect
No other face, no other name
No other joy, no other pain
But you’re worth it

I don’t wanna live without you
I don’t wanna live without you, without you, anymore
I don’t wanna live without you
I don’t wanna live without you, without you, anymore
