For reasons unknown, Alex and Mike ventured out into the heartless desert where they heard the sound. Brad and Roger climbed down from a nearby cactus and, after introductions, someone asked, "Do you hear that sound?" Yes they all heard the sound but its source could not be observed. By Tuesday, an exotic realm had risen up in that spot built of the most inviting rhythms and pleasing tones. That realm was Mombasa.
None of us have been to the actual city of Mombasa. Or Africa. Were building Mombasa here in Tucson, AZ out of things weve heard or entirely made up. Our Mombasa uses rock music to explore the new, the old and unknown, to let love out, to get weird. Were drawing from the psychedelic 60s, jazz-fusion, electronic, post-rock, and indie music.
