Mona Vale Falls

BandRock

Christchuch, New Zealand's 'Mona Vale Falls' are a collective of 4 that musically mix together a blend of Post-Hardcore with Rock & Screamo sensibility. They pride themselves in their chaotic live show & their surprisingly deep songwriting... And this is only going to grow & get better!

Biography

"When that part of you that reminds you of home starts to fade, all you have left is the chance to create new memories that will remind you again of where it all began. This is the origin of... Mona Vale Falls"

We started in mid 2005 as an assignment (For Mark's studies) here in Christchurch, New Zealand and put on our first few shows in December 2005. After an unscheduled break we returned to the local live scene a year later with a new line-up and some new songs. Since then we've played at numerous local venues, played at Parachute Festival 2007, and released a self-produced promotional single. Our next aim is to record a 4/5 track EP with a tentative mid 2007 release date.

We focus on writing songs that communicate from a passionate and desperate point of view, by doing so we try to interact with the hearts and minds of people and hopefully challenge the way they see/live life. Our Post-Hardcore/Rock/Screamo style attempts to communicate those things and makes for a very energetic live show... Feel free to ask around because those words came from the mouths of others who have watched us play live.

Don't believe us? Then come to our next show in your local so we can prove you wrong!

Panic/Heart/Attack

Written By: Words & Music by Mark Palalagi

---Panic/Heart/Attack---
Words & Music by Mark Palalagi

I can't sleep, i can't breathe
The aftermath of panic in my dreams
Where surgery fails to ease
A single thought in my condition
Nervously pray for keeps
The evidence of faith is lost in me
The stereo fails to ease
A single thought in my condition

Panic destroys my peace
I reach for ease but i toss and turn and
Focus on loving things
For fear of never coming back

Panic! Panic!

Minutes pass, actually
They seem to drag like hours while i think
Of reasoning against sleep
A single pause can end this mission
Nervously trust for keeps
While gravity of slumber calls for me
The panic is focusing
A single pause can end this mission

I'm not ready to come home
I'm not ready to come home

Panic destroys my peace
I reach for ease but i toss and turn and
Focus on loving things
For fear of never coming back

I've lost my grip, i've lost the scene
Someone took uneasiness from me
I hope that it's higher things
Well i'm on my way to see...

Panic destroys my peace
I reach for ease but i toss and turn and
Focus on loving things
For fear of never coming back home

Panic destroys my peace
I reach for ease but i toss and turn and
Focus on loving things
For fear of never coming back

Panic! Panic!

Recover (The Prequel)

Written By: Words & Music by Mark Palalagi

---Recover (The Prequel)---
Words & Music by Mark Palalagi

These Glass Walls take the aim
For these symphonies in my chest
I'm clothed above the strain
My poker faces
I blend into the beat
But my eyes reveal the difference
I know just what to say
Somehow my eyes just know me better

Is this my own for what was said
And how your mind can read me?
I've made my peace with casualties
Except the one inside of me

My hands can take the blame
For the focus red at my head
I'm not one and the same
But your words say that
I blend into the streets
But my eyes reveal the difference
I'll prove you wrong again
I hope your eyes are looking closer now

Is this my own for what was said
And how your mind can read me?
I've made my peace with casualties
Except the one inside of me

Inside of me (x4)

Is this my own for what was said
And how your mind can read me?
I've made my peace with casualties
Except the one inside of me

Is this my own for what was said
And how your mind can read me?
I've made my peace with casualties
Except the one inside of me

Loveless Vs Red Alert

Written By: Words and Music by Mark Palalagi

---Loveless Vs Red Alert---
Words and Music by Mark Palalagi

Dear God, it’s happening again
(My love is being tested)
A new face, a new face
(And much talk of sacrifice)
Clearly my faith is incomplete
(But that’s a minor detail)
I feel fake, i feel fake
(I became selfish tonight
Selfish tonight)

Dear God, it’s happening again
Just when i thought that growth would ease
I thought it would ease
Dear God, it’s happening again
Just when i thought that growth would ease
I thought it would ease

But i got pulled in a self-security
With my apathy, for all but me
Now all your words are red alert routines
That are new to me, but all for me

(Dear God, what should my eyes see?
My love is being tested, relearning how to breathe
Dear God, what should my eyes see?
My love is being tested, relearning how to be)

Dear God, it’s happening again
Just when i thought that i could be
I thought i could be
Dear God, it’s happening again
Just when i thought that i could be
I thought i could be

But i got pulled out of self-security
With my apathy, for all but me
So all your words are red alert routines
That are new to me, but all for me

What is loyalty without expense?
Where are eyes that see beauty and truth?
Who will stand their ground?
Who will stand, their ground just to protect?

(Dear God, I'm only just a man
I’m lost within the struggle, refusing how to breathe
Dear God, I'm only just a man
I’m lost within the struggle, refusing how to be)
Your love

Set List

Our set list is currently the following:

- The Throwing Of The Mute (Intro)
- Recover (The Prequel)
- Awake In Slumber
- Exit Fear Division
- Panic/Heart/Attack
- Loveless Vs Red Alert

Our current set currently clocks in at 20 minutes (including talking) & we aim to keep the flow going by keeping banter in between songs to a minimum. We're always tweaking our set to make it better and keep our audience guessing.

We can fill a slot from 10 - 40 minutes and we're pretty versatile, we'll make the most of any opportunity to make ourselves known that much more!!!
