A native of the Washington, DC metro area, MONI brings has truly unique and soulful sound that connects with listeners MONI bringing a warm and comforting presence as she takes her listeners through a diverse experience. An R&B artist, she is able to deliver and connect with her listener’s whether through an energetic piece like “Dance w/ Me” or soulful ballad like “Without U.” She brings a unique vocal talent with a soulful energy to each performance.
Moni’s musical influences are as diverse as her music recalling such artists as Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston to Darrel Coley, Kim Burrell and Billie Holiday. “ I love music and grew up in a house where there were musical influences everywhere.” “My mom used to drag me out to choir and group rehearsals where I used to sing along, and in harmony too. She recalls performing along with her mom’s gospel groups at an early age. “When I was 6, they even let me sing in the alto section of one of the groups.” Listening to R&B classics regularly with her dad on Saturday nights, Moni also found a love for soul and R&B. “ The music just did something to me, it took me to places I couldn’t understand.” Singing since the age of 4, you can hear these variety of musical influences in Moni’s songs. She has a soulful yet contemporary sound that is all her own.
When asked the ultimate goal of her music Moni expresses “I just want to make music that connects to people. I want them to feel what I’m feeling, I want to take them to the places I experience when I write and sing my music.” Weather a song about hanging out with friends, the stresses of life or an emotional ballad about love and relationships, Moni takes her listeners through a journey they are sure not to forget.

A finalist in an Atlantic Records Sponsored Talent Showcase, and selected performer for the Got Flow Summer Concert, you can find Moni making regular appearances with the Y2k band at various events in the mid-Atlantic region.
