Biography

“Trouble might knock on your door” is one of the lines from Monika Mays upcoming debut album “Breathe” in April 2010. Hailing from Oslo, Norway, this remarkable singer/songwriter has a depth of soul and honesty in her songs that will make you wonder how a young girl of 22 could possibly have such a moving and powerful sound. When asked about her music during a live performance on BBC Radio Merseyside in February 09, Monika explained that “It’s just my thoughts wanting to come out!”.

Loving the Liverpool life, Monika May is playing her music together with her band in Liverpool venues, such as Parr Street Studio 2 (where she headlined during Liverpool Music Week 09), the Zanzibar and the Masque.

Monika May is currently a 3rd year student at the Internationally renowned Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA) where she is currently studying music and song writing. Her live performances are a mix of funky soul tunes (which, by the way, will tempt the dancer in you!), and chilled-out slow jams with colourful melodies.

At the moment, Monika May is working on a major showcase that will take place in The Paul McCartney Auditorium within LIPA in April 2010. On this occasion, she and her band will be playing with a string section and a host of other great musicians. This is definitely one night of music that’s not to be missed!
