Bio

Monique Martinez was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. This fresh young talented star from Latino heritage has been making noise throughout the R&B and Pop scene performing with artists like The Jacka (Bay Area Super Star), Tyga (Cash Money Artist), Baby Bash, Ray J and Soulja Boy. She has also performed on two NFL football games, which aired on national television. Her drive and passion shows with every performance. Monique was currently selected to represent the Bay Area for the second time on national television performing on BET’s Wild N’ Out Wednesdays.

Growing up in a musically talented family, she cites her grandfather as her biggest musical influence. “I grew up watching my grandfather play his guitar with a bunch of his friends at family barbecues.” She began taking singing lessons very young and by the age of 9, Monique was competing in national kid and teen competitions. “Through vocal training, I have developed a great ear for music, and singing.”

Throughout Middle school Monique took on dance and acting classes as well and by the time this young lady graduated High School, she had already learned the many sides of the music industry by working, writing and recording with artists all over California.

Monique brings a new sound to the music world combining R&B, Pop, Soul, Hip-Hop and some Rock elements to her music. “I try and keep the vocals and writing to be unique, putting a little twist of different music style genres”. She writes and arranges her own music alongside her highly acclaimed producer Baby Boss, who has been able to create a new sound for Monique that is universal. Her style defines her uniqueness as an artist, giving her fan base and audience original songs written from personal experiences. Her music can be listened to when one is ready to party, when going through hard times, or when one is with that special someone. “I enjoy making music that everyone can relate to the lyrics and emotion.”

Using Myspace, Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube to market her growing brand and with a solid foundation in her hometown of Redwood, California, Monique continues to grow her fan base as many new artists do through the internet. She is currently signed to indie label Grind State Entertainment and is gearing up for the release of her new single “Rewind”, which was produced by Baby Boss and written by Monique. “I was inspired to write this track when I was watching a movie one night, I was reflecting on the year that had passed and the lessons I learned being a part of a relationship and watching others around me go thru difficult turmoil. On the personal level I was going thru the difficult challenges of accepting heartbreak, and moving forward. “Rewind” is a part of what I’ve really been through, and at the same time I’ve had many people respond to the lyrics in a positive way.”

Monique is presently working long hours in the studio on her upcoming debut album which is set to release in 2010. She is also preparing to embark on a promotional tour that includes, school tours, shows and festivals nationwide. Besides all this she also manages to find time to volunteer in the community, which is something that is not only very important to her but she enjoys doing it. “Being a student mentor for The Boys and Girls Club of The Peninsula helps me get closer to those kids in need of love, support, and inspiration”.

As a new artist on the rise, Monique’s accomplishments and story thus far has kept her striving for more. From humble beginnings to a star studded future, Monique Martinez is paving her path to greatness. “My main motivation is the passion I have for music; I want to show everyone that anything is possible. In five years I see myself still doing music and being able to brand myself, so that I can help others follow in the same footsteps. That is my goal!”
