"Monk- The Man and the Music"

His song says Nothing seems to fill his emptiness. But once you hear his music you know it is music that fills his emptiness. He is Monk, and up and coming musician for Munich, Germany with a sound he says is “like Kurt Cobain and Timbaland in the boxing ring” Auctionwally, a fellow Examiner and host of Brainstorming Bonanzle, after hearing Monk said "This guy has a pretty fresh and catchy sound. It's like a cross between U2 and Franky Goes To Hollywood! I really, really like it!" One thing for sure, Monk has a sound that all Monk.

Monk, (whose real name is Domink) is a 26 year old singer/songwriter/producer/composer/musician. His love of music started at an early age, studying violin, piano, and guitar. He cites his musical influences are many ranging from the classics of Mozart, Beethoven, Wagner, and Richard Strauss to the Beatles and Sting all the way up to Prince, Grand Master Flash, Queen, and Jeff Beck and Nirvana. As a songwriter he admires the style of Guy Chambers. Quote, “In my book this guy is the John Lennon of today.”

Playing in cover bands as a guitarist since 16, Monk still found he had an emptiness. That emptiness is the driving force behind him now, working towards the completion of his first CD, Damaged Music For Damaged People. Slated for completion by Summer of 2009. All songs are written, arranged, played, produced, mixed and mastered by Monk. “I’m never happy and it is really hard for me to call a song finished” This drive for perfectionism is so clear in every note.

Living in Munich all of his life, Monk is fluent in both German and English but states “ I love the English language !!! I’d love to move to London, New York, or Sidney... but I will for sure in the future !”

What does the future hold for Monk? “Besides of the studio work I'm building up a band. I will start playing live in my home town Munich and I plan a first tour in Germany. Then lets see what happens. But as soon as I will play live I will post videos of the shows on You Tube !”

Other than wanting a band, Monk is enjoying the Indie musician life “At the moment I cant imagine working with a record company.. I love the fact that I can write and release whatever I want. 30 years ago you could not record a LP without them. Now you can. At the moment I'm happy how things are.”

As many indie musicians Monk is generous with his work, you can visit his website, monk-music-monk.com and enjoy his music for free until the CD is ready for release. You will find some great music that is sure to fill that emptiness. - Birminghan Music Examiner~Susan Leak

Discography

He is currently finishing his debut album “Damaged Music for Damaged People” which he is working on now since 2 and half years. That may seem a long time for an album but considering the fact that
Monk has written, arranged, played, produced, mixed and mastered all his tracks in his bedroom studio on his own is more then astonishing. The five songs that are available for free (until the album release) at his homepage: www.monk-music-monk.com are an impressive preview of what we can expect of the full LP.
