ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)- Monkh will join other musicians in an anti-heroin music event called “Hero Inside”. The initiative works to give emotional support to addicts and their families. Musicians are also working to raise money to help those affected get treatment, which can be just as expensive as it can be lifesaving.
Monkh’s label mate Nick Menn lost three friends to heroin-related deaths in less than eight months. The group believes secrecy and shame blocks recovery.
As for Monkh, has released his EP ‘Headlines’. He wrote the song just days before Michael Brown was fatally shot in Ferguson by a police officer. The killing sparked weeks of unrest. - Fox 2 Now

Monkh, along with his 8 piece band ‘The People’, are gearing up to release a new self titled Ep that is focused around “The process of struggle with the resolve of love through compassion and groovy sounds.” Bad Times starts off with a growling guitar riff that is so gracefully answered by a saxophone, sending the entire band into this chant like groove.
“Wake up did you hear the news? They sold us all out for some oil in a spoon”
Monkh makes it a point to talk about the ongoing struggles in America in a very bold and driving way to in still in the listener the power of the people, and working together as one to defeat the injustices happening in this country.
“These are bad times
We can’t get much lower
But this is our time
And we won’t let this go”
