"PREMIERE | Monroe want "One More Night" in new music video"

At the bottom of a barrel, you'll do anything to be loved, to feel something and blow people away. "Am I ghost?" singer Matt Berman, frontman of New York City-based pop/rock group Monroe, pleads on the band's new anthem, "One More Night." Drenched in the gentle quiver of classic rock temperament, the slick-backed ode to underdogs taps into that down-on-your-luck sentiment quite effectively and organically. "Are you searching for something to find?" Berman proposes on the opening line. And in the official visual, premiering today, the leading character takes to the grungy but hopeful streets of the big city, seeking out some kind of sign his time isn't up yet. Popdust is beyond ecstatic to get our hands on the official clip, and it'll make you feel all sorts of things: from joy to sadness to glee and everything in between. "I wrote this song for myself and anyone that was going through some kind of struggle," Berman tells us about the song, which could have landed on any number of Fall Out Boy or Coldplay records. - PopDust Magazine

"PREMIERE: Monroe combine reality with fantasy on “Streetlight” off debut EP"

Matt Berman has spent a lot of time standing in the background of famous musicians. From playing saxophone and keys in Brandon Flowers’ (The Killers) band on his “Desired Effect” world tour to working with artists on Snoop Dogg and Kanye West’s labels. But now with the release of his debut EP under Monroe, Berman is stepping out of the background and into the spotlight.

The Streetlight EP, due out July 28, is a beautiful and well-crafted introduction to the talented force that is Monroe. With Berman at the helm, Monroe also includes musicians who have toured with Lauryn Hill and Augustana.

Today, we are thrilled to premiere the EP’s title track, “Streetlight.” It’s a fun and charming track with plenty of sing-along moments and enough vocal power to put Monroe on the map.

When asked about the song, Berman said:

“‘Streetlight’ is the title song of the EP, and it carries a really important message for the record. I wrote the chorus of this song while I was in LA touring with Brandon Flowers and it’s really significant for the album because for me, it combines reality with fantasy. Feeling alone and dreaming of what it would be like to find that one and to skyrocket to the top of the world with that person. When I started writing this record, I would stand outside of my apartment in New York and write lyrics under a streetlight out on 14th Street. While in LA, I looked outside of my hotel window and there was one just staring me in the face that weirdly looked just like the one from home; so I knew I had to finish this song. This song was a reality check in many ways, but really lays it all out on the line especially with the opening statement of ‘You’ll be the streetlight, and I’ll be your ghost.’ That pretty much says it all.” - Substream Magazine

"AA Premiere - Monroe's Streetlight EP"

We’re proud to help premiere the debut EP Streetlight from rising act Monroe.

Formed by singer/saxophonist Matt Berman, Monroe unites a group of musicians with extensive touring backgrounds, including members who have played with Lauryn Hill and Augustana. Berman himself played saxophone and keys as part of Brandon Flowers’ (The Killers) band on his recent world tour and has worked in the studio with artists on Snoop Dogg and Kanye West’s labels.

About the new EP, Berman said:

"This EP is the long-awaited premiere of Monroe. I wrote this over a span of 2 years and I'm really excited to get to finally bring you into my world and share with you the world of Monroe."

"Music Video Recommendation: “One More Night” by Monroe"

Now this is how you make a debut to be remembered, the amazing New York based Monroe deliver an indie pop gem with “One more night” and it is something you have to hear and see. Through an endearing and playful story we are transported to the streets, the life and the day and night of the magical city of New York and it couldn’t be a more perfect setting. The city embraces the soundscape and together they ensure a unique magnetism to the verses and the melodies making us feel connected to the song. Within the song we feel a sense of hope and a wishful thought that that one more night could be the one to change it all and set the wheel spinning in your favor. So roll the dice and give it your all and who knows maybe that one night is truly the one for love, happiness, freedom and more. Enjoy! - Wolf In A Suit
