"Monstrauss - "Fever Dream""

Imagine Scott Weiland just ate about ten pot brownies coated in Vapo-Rub and you have an idea of Noaa Rienecker, the tongue-wobbling frontman for South Bay “skunge” band Monstrauss. Rienecker’s voice and delivery would be enough to distinguish any song, but in combination with the group’s bizarre combination of reggae riddims and grunge guitars (think about that!), this makes for a truly odd offering. It’s a risky formula that, in other artists’ hands, could lead to some serious cheese. Luckily, Monstrauss have enough idiosyncrasies to render the fusion startlingly effective. - SF Rebirth:The Unofficial Blog Of The Bay Area Rock Scene

Bio

"Truly good stuff! ...Primus molests Pearl Jam beaten by a Rude Boy with a wet noodle!"
- Steven Schub of the Fenwicks and HaSkaLa

Influenced by a wide range of styles, we are most basically defined as a heavy alternative rock band with prominent grunge and ska influence, although we are connected to the San Jose punk scene. We've been together since August of 2009, and have been gigging regularly since December of that year, playing around the Bay Area and in Southern California, opening for a variety of acts including Rx Bandits and Bobby Joe Ebola & The Children Macnuggits. We self-recorded our 8-cut EP, "My Brain & Me" in a two-day garage session, and independently released our first record "Thinktank" in 2011. We've worked with SLG Publishing, Toothless Monkey Recording, PinUp Productions, Grand Fanali Productions, gotten airplay on internet stations like Rockland World Radio as well as college radio stations in San Jose and San Diego, and we regularly perform at and facilitate shows in the San Jose D.I.Y. scene.

We are often joined live by a 3-part horn section.

Influences include: Presidents of the United States of America, Tool, The Fenwicks, Jeff Buckley, Nirvana, Primus, XTC, Incubus, Porcupine Tree, Soundgarden, Radiohead, The Police, Oingo Boingo, My Bloody Valentine, and Smashing Pumpkins.
