Bio

In today’s ultra competitive and saturated music industry, few bands have come along that make a name for themselves the old fashioned way… through great music, killer live shows and one-on-one contact with their fans… until now… enter: Monte*Rosa. Signed by the independent label Fabrika Music and distributed in the US and Puerto Rico by J & N Records/Sony-BMG, Monte*Rosa launched its self-titled, self-produced debut album during the summer of 2005 to critical acclaim by fans and critics.

From the start, Monte*Rosa’s unique style of music, stage antics and hard work have created a steady, yet loud buzz within the music scene, earning them the title as BEST BAND – USA by BOOM Magazine on their annual “Best of… Issue” (January 2006). The honor is well deserved, in just a few months, Monte*Rosa’s first single – Me La Robo – was #1 in Puerto Rico’s leading rock station; has had a steady presence in Sirius Satellite Radio’s Universo Latino’s Alternativa ñ show; and was a Buzzworthy video in MTV Español. Their second single – Mi Cielo Perdió un Angel, based on Eric J.M.’s (lead singer) own experiences dealing with the ending of a five year marriage – has earned them even more praise and brought even more attention to this band’s amazing songwriting skills.

Amongst their peers, they are respected and this respect has given them the opportunity to share the stage with the likes of Bacilos, Los Amigos Invisibles, Black Guayaba, Rabanes and Caramelos de Cianuro, to name a few.

After the release of Monte*Rosa, Yahoo! Música highlighted the band as one of the best bands to come out of Miami in the past few years.

The first half of ’06 continues to see constant success for the band: just as they were starting their highly successful “Spirit Airlines presents: Monte*Rosa “Todos Somos del Mismo Lugar US & Puerto Rico tour”, Monte*Rosa got word they were chosen as the only Spanish rock band to participate at the Miami New Times New Talent Stage at the “Global Gathering Music Festival” (March 18, 2006), in which rock legends like Rob Zombie and Nine Inch Nails also performed.

Back on tour, the band visited Orlando, New York, New Jersey, Washington DC and finally, Puerto Rico. Highlights? The one-hour live performance show for Sirius Satellite Radio’s Alternativa ñ (Universo Latino); playing the famous Hard Rock Café in San Juan and doing everything rock n’ roll style... no glitz nor glamour, just the heart and desire to share their music.

This year also marks the second time Monte*Rosa performs at the Billboard Latin Music Conference. Last year as part of the opening night cocktail hosted by MTV Español, one of the most coveted showcases of the Conference. This year, they also opened the Conference at the Billboard Latino and Gibson Pre-Conference Showcase at Glass, alongside Grammy nominated Locos por Juan and Jon Secada, to name a few.

Without a doubt, Monte*Rosa is paving the road as one of Latin pop/rock’s most important band to come out of Miami in the last few years.
