"Music to look at"

Five voices, five wireless microphones, that's all. For the group it's never enough to just copy a song. It's as if each song is completely taken down after which it's been built up again with the greatest microscopic precision. - NRC Handelsblad (Holland)

"Montezuma's Revenge"

A rousing show of the highest musical level, and also staged in a funny and unusual way
(Westdeutsche Zeitung)

The band of five indeed belongs to the top class of the international a cappella scene
(Schwäbische Zeitung)

It goes without saying that each of the goodlooking men is an excellent soloist...
their voices are addictive. Therefore: da capo please!
(Berliner Morgenpost) - several German papers

"Visual Extravangza with Pop, Dolls and Phantasy"

....... unusual arrangements of familiar songs, a broad and powerful , wide sound that can replace an orchestra without any trouble, are characterizing their songs. Together with that the men use vocal percussion and body clapping, change moods and outfits easily, compete with the dancing skills of any boyband. Montezuma's Revenge is way more that just doop ti doop. No wonder there were standing ovations. - Wetdeutsche Zeitung (Germany)

Bio

When the Dutch group Montezuma’s Revenge had a big hit with the famous song “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” way back in 1989, the group immediately distinguished itself as a leading vocal pop group.
Today the group can look back at the release of 11 albums worldwide. Because of the stunning theatre shows and appearances on television and at music festivals the group is highly appreciated by a broad audience. Great musical skills and inventive theatrical staging make Montezuma’s Revenge a group of world class.

POP ART
Vocal trapeze artists juggling with chords, singing repertoire that’s magic:
in the show that tours this season, Montezuma’s Revenge is inspired by Berlin, the city which is often visited by the five men during their German tours. In this way, a new kind of variety show was developed, which combines the unique atmosphere of the Berlin theaters and nightclubs with the contemporary charisma which is also an important feature of this metropolis.
To create this surprising tenth show –which reveals a side of Montezuma that is totally new- the group was directed by Karel de Rooij (Mini & Maxi).

Again in this show, the familiar vocal pop sound remains the starting-point. But next to it, new elements were added which make the show POP ART into a unique spectacle; the old variety revives! And especially for these new ingredients, the knowledge and experience of Karel ‘Mini’de Rooij were an inexhaustible source.
Coming from the stage, you’ll hear an overwhelming sound, but the orchestra pit is still empty: the five voices know how to verbalize pop music without any instruments.

As one paper once said: music to look at!
