My name is Monti Herring and I live in Nashville TN. Prior to my arriving to TN, I was a longtime alcoholic and drug addict. I had literally lost everything. I was homeless for nearly 2 years in Ohio where I'm originally from. Living on the streets, trying to fight my own demons while all the while constantly feeding them at any cost weighed heavily on me. During my steady decline I had tried to commit suicide 3 times. Suffering from Depression also, my 3 failed attempts at suicide only further pushed me down. I ended up in Nashville I THOUGHT by sheer coincidence and literally the "luck of the draw", because there were a couple other places I was thinking about going to. I only wanted to stay in one place long enough to steal or do whatever I had to do so that I could keep feeding my demons. I know NOW that God had other plans for my life. Out of ALL of the places I could have ended up at in Nashville (Having never been here prior), I literally found myself in front of the Nashville Rescue Mission. After several days I entered there 7-month Life Recovery program. This was in May of 2007. In June of that same year I gave my life to Christ and I literally saw my life and world change instantly. I worked for a little over a year at the Rescue Mission helping other men like myself find Christ. I travel throughout TN sharing my story of what God has done and sharing the music that He alone has put on my heart to write. I had NEVER played the piano until AFTER I got saved at the Rescue Mission in June of 2007. Since that point God has shown me what it is He wants me to do. I am also a student at Belmont University. Little do the most of the students know that sitting next to them in class is someone that was completely homeless, a 3-time suicide survivor, and a now reformed alcohol and drug addict. I am working on my first solo Debut album with legendary vocal arranger and Producer Mark Williamson. God truly is wonderful and amazing; how can I not praise Him for who HE is?
