"Los Angeles is home ..."

"Los Angeles is home to some of the most famous clubs around ... the home of some of the finest music in the states ... the home of Moodorgan ... atmospheric, sexual, beautiful, and danceable all at the same time. Taking tones from Synthpop, New Wave, and the Gothic genres make Moodorgan quite an audio experience."
"Moodorgan is a package deal. The music is well produced ... the look ... is as appealing as the music ... Their stage show includes video and a passion for the music that makes for a great set ... Moodorgan is on their way and those of you who don’t know of them shouldn’t miss out." - Carpe Nocturne

"a kinetic, multimedia, ongoing live event iconoclasm ..."

"The often complex musical soundscapes should please fans of dance music across genres ... the mixes often stray from what might normally be considered a darkwave/synthpop style into the realms of futurepop ... echoing styles similar to those of Convenant and Wolfsheim’s more danceable tunes."
"Moodorgan ... a kinetic, multimedia, ongoing live event iconoclasm ... the (often quite beautiful) music ... the influence of the steampunk cultural vision ... the whole effect transports the listener into a kind of H.G. Wells/Jules Verne universe of fantastical imagination and machinery. It is as if this album is an artifact from another dimension; a time capsule intended to inform anyone discovering it of another, finer realm." - Morbid Outlook

Bio

Moodorgan was first conceived as a studio project when Peter was studying art in Boston in the late ‘90s. Three records (and a cross-country journey to Los Angeles) later, Moodorgan is known for a robust live multimedia show and is heard in dance clubs across the US and Europe.

The musical and visual style of the band made it perhaps inevitable that it would find a home in the Los Angeles gothic/industrial community. Moodorgan tracks are heard in the LA “scene” alongside bands like Covenant, Apoptygma Berzerk, Wolfsheim, VNV Nation and Depeche Mode , and the renowned Bar Sinister in Hollywood – arguably LA’s premier gothic club – hosted the headlining live event for the 2009 release of “prv2: process remixes vol. 2”.

The highly integrated live video component of the Moodorgan show is the result of both Peter’s background in the visual arts as well as a philosophy that the medium known as “rock and roll” should always be pushing the limits of creative expression and exploring the possibilities made available by new technology and techniques.

Equally important is the idea that a live performance should indeed be live. In an age of seemingly ubiquitous “just press play” electronic bands Moodorgan’s creative manifesto demands that everyone on stage be playing real (and plugged-in) instruments and that computers and sequencers should be under the live control of humans, not the other way around. A Moodorgan set has a very “produced” sound but it is never the same twice.

Moodorgan embodies the DIY mindset: from music and video production, visual design, merch and promo creation, to the development of custom hardware and software instruments, all creative and technical direction is conducted by Peter and the members of the live crew. This is a self-sufficient band with a unified creative vision.
