What: Moody Black CD release celebration
When: 8 p.m. Friday

A CD release party will take place at 8 p.m. Friday in The Showroom, 149 S. Daniel Morgan Ave.
The event is hosted by longtime friend and fellow spoken word poet, Tony Mack, aka Johnny C. Weaver, and features performances by several other artists and special guests.
Mullins, 36, said he wants listeners to define the beauty in their own lives and warns it takes going beyond the surface and examining the inner self.
"I am sharing my life experiences on these tracks and hope it helps someone else," he said.
The CD has 17 tracks chronicling everything from the feelings couples deal with going through relationships to a hip-hop tune encouraging people to keep going strong no matter what happens.
Mullins will perform material from the new release in upcoming shows in Greenville, Columbia, Black Mountain, N.C., and Hot Springs, Ark.
"Writing is therapeutic for me," he said. "I would go crazy if I didn't write."
