Bio

Jerome Rimson – Bass Guitar, production

Not a newcomer to the world stage, bass guitarist and producer Jerome (the Detroit Hitman) Rimson provides a wealth of experience having played with greats such as Phil Lynott (the only person to have played bass on a Phil Lynott album – apart from the great man himself!), the Detroit Emeralds, Van (the man) Morrisson and the Real Thing - to mention a few.

Art O’Laoire - Piano, Keyboards, Technical advisor, production

Art brings a wealth of echnical and musical acumen with a Masters in Music Technology. This is evident in the quality of the recording. Art’s played with us all in the band at some point previously.

Prior to his Moody Roots project, Art toured the world providing sound engineering for many well-known people including; Dolly Parton, Tommy Cash, MTV Europe and shows including River dance and The Pulses of Tradition.

Terry Datson Vocals, Guitars & Songwriting

Formerly “Fatz Datz” (of Fatz Datz and the Kool Katz fame – not that we were ever famous Neil!) Terry Datson croons soulfully on each track, lending real life experience and an honesty to all of our songs. Born in London and relocated to Cork some 20 plus years ago. Armed with his Chris Larkin acoustic Terry interacts on a very personal level with audiences. (Chris Larkin is a luthier who makes guitars and is based in Castlegregory, County Kerry)

Whilst Terry is the principal songwriter in the band, it’s important to make the point that it really is the “sum of the parts” that makes MOODY ROOTS special. ?We all bring different strengths to the project.

It’s what puts the “MOODY” in Moody Roots!

Ray Horgan - percussion

Ray Horgan (aka “Hoggie” ex “Sunshine Drug”) accompanying on congas and general percussive vibes. Ray has been involved in the Cork music for the past 25 years as both player and promoter.

Eoghan Regan – Guitars

Blues guitar living legend Eoghan Regan, (aka “Reg” pronounced “Redge”) plays a winning combination of a VOX AC30 (original) and Gibson Les Paul. Known for his work with the Inner City Blues Band & the Booty Band “Reg” brings his individual blend of blues, soul and funk fusion.

Ivan Holden - Guitars

Essential “hot” guitar player Ivan Holden (the other “Van”) brings Motown/John Mayer/Claptonesque chops to beat the band a’la Fender Stratocaster. Known city and county-wide as a founder member of The Taxmen and of course us - MOODY ROOTS!?

Andrea Bonino – Lap Steel Guitar & Harmonica

Italian born Andrea’s soul is in music. Andrea puts a little bit of atmosphere in the Moody Roots mix.
