Bio

Cleveland, OH; the beloved “Birthplace of Rock ‘N’ Roll”. Former WJW disc jockey Alan Freed is best known for coining the phrase describing this kind of music which he played on his radio show there in the early 1950’s. Freed also organized the first known rock ‘n’ roll concert that took place at Cleveland Arena on March 21, 1952, known as the “Moondog Coronation Ball”. Hence all of this, Cleveland is also home to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, and was once described by former WMMS program director Billy Bass as “The Rock and Roll Capital of the World”. Where am I going with this? The band Moon Rocks is from Cleveland, OH, and the sound of their music is reminiscent of earlier days in rock ’n’ roll. Surely not as far back as the above mentioned, but of a time when rock ‘n’ roll music was transformed out of different genres from that era. An influence of rock’s history is very clear in their work. Their sound has been related by some to groups such as The Rolling Stones and The Jimi Hendrix Experience. Some of the song “Here Today, Gone Tomorrow” seems to remind myself of a little “Can’t You Hear Me Knockin’”, and “Light” has a cool, old school, bluesy bass line that will find a place in a listener’s mind and make itself comfortable there. These songs also possess qualities that bring them closer into our era, especially the vocals; they add a very favorable finishing touch. Moon Rocks is Ryan Nedoma(Vocals), Reed Stith(Guitar), Dan Thompson(Bass), and Nick Ruscitto(Drums). According to their ReverbNation profile (www.reverbnation.com/moonrocksband), they are currently playing shows in the Akron/Canton area in Ohio. They can be “Liked” on Facebook, too, at www.facebook.com/moonrocksband. Check ‘em out! Article by: Captain Cole see full review at woodbangers.com
