"Check this band out when they come to a venue near you. The band is solid and the vocals are outstanding. Call them a blues band or call them a rock band... either way, they are well worth going out of your way to see them perform." - American Blues News Magazine

Bio

A full moon is on the rise for Moondog Medicine Show, rocking, funky blues band that hails from Western Maryland. Their blend of originals and covers are sure to please any blues enthusiast, or anyone for that matter.

The band's sound stems from many influences like blues heavyweights Big Momma Thornton, Koko Taylor, Janis Joplin, James Brown and many, many more. The four-piece group has a well-rounded rock, blues and jazz background and a combined 100+ years of performance experience in all manner of venues from large festivals to cruise ships to tiny clubs and bars.

Their new CD "Elixir" is fresh off the presses and has already gotten attention from internet radio stations such as KOQX in San Jose, CA, and was featured on the "Blues on the Marsh" program on Channel Radio in the UK.

Individually they have real credits under their belts; members have played with: Big Brother and the Holding Company, David Sanborn, Jeff “skunk” Baxter, Gary US Bonds, Tim Curry, Dr. John to name a few.

The true key to the bands burgeoning success is in their front woman, Lana Spence. Her gritty, powerful Joplin-esque voice is as genuinely bluesy as it comes. When Lana steps in front of a microphone, people can't believe the huge voice coming from such a diminutive figure. Lonnie Hillyer (Maggie's Dream, Jeffrey Gaines, Billy Joel) said "This band clearly rocks with effortless groove and swing, as Lana's natural and soulful vocals ring honestly and reminiscently in the tradition of Janis Joplin, Bonnie Raitt, and Tina Turner."

They’ve played bars, wineries and festivals all over the Mid Atlantic. So grab your John the conquer root and black cat bone, the voodoo you won’t be able to get enough of is Moondog Medicine Show!
