Moonshine Mafia

Moonshine Mafia

BandAmericanaRock

Somewhere between rock, country, and folk in a central Appalachian setting are apt references in describing the music of the Moonshine Mafia, but the real appeal of this band is in how much the members truly love to generate enjoyment and excitement in an audience.

Biography

Although the band is only a year old, the Moonshine Mafia has been brewing in the mind of guitarist Mark Vestich for years. "I've always believed that there are two ways to build a band; one is to focus on the virtuosity of certain members a la Hendrix, and the other is to build a band as a unit, seeking virtuosity through the total sound a la Beatles or Stones. I like the second concept because bands like that tend to play more for their audiences than themselves." A loyal following has quickly developed over the last year, and fans of the band are known as "Mob Members". Influences include the Beatles, the Grateful dead, Credence, Crosby Stills & Nash, Jimmy Buffett, country music before 1980, and Progressive Bluegrass as exemplified by the New Grass Revival. The band plays a variety of cover tunes ranging from John Cowan to Wilson Pickett, but also have a portfolio of originals, their favorites being available on the recently released "Field of Dreams" CD.
