“I’m not scared for tomorrow, I’m the director of my own soul…” states the opening track of the new studio EP by San Diego’s Moontucky Risin. Self-produced, the EP presents four, well-crafted songs that dare the listeners to venture outside themselves to see what the band’s all about.
A sound all their own, Moontucky Risin offers a dynamic range of music that interweaves the different styles that have influenced them throughout their lives. Taking classic rock riffs woven with intricate psychedelic jams; blues licks to odd-time fusion grooves, Moontucky Risin conjures the spirits of bands like The Grateful Dead, Phish, Traffic, and Blind Melon, and giving them a present-day polish.
Moontucky Risin consistently delivers a high-energy, climactic live performance to their ever-growing fan base. Nightly, the band explores the depths of their improvisational skills all while showcasing their vast songbook.
In just a few short years, these workhorses have built a strong reputation with many of San Diego‘s best venues, including opening regularly at the Belly Up tavern. The band’s chops earned them opening slots for The Jimmy Herring Band (guitarist of Widespread Panic), John Dolmayan’s side project (drummer of System of a Down), and radio play on 102.1 KPRI FM.
