"CD Baby Artist's Pick"

Fans of Tom Petty and The Wallflowers will want to give this one a spin. This jangly, smile-inducing poppy Americana album is one that will work its way into your ears and tweak your senses. Need some great, upbeat music for the BBQ, as the soundtrack for your summer this year? We got your back. - CDBaby.com

"Dave Pratt"

I recently had the chance to catch Chris Alcaraz and More Love. These guys are fun! Chris plays the stand-up base like Brian Setzer on a quart of Full Throttle. Alcaraz was literally riding on top of his base like he was whipping a horse to the finish line in a rippin’ version of Buddy Holly’s “Not Fade Away.” - AZCentral.com

Bio

When asked about his coolest recent show, Chris replied: "Opening for ZZ Top was amazing." "Elvis may be the King, but Billy Gibbons is the Guru."

Singer/songwriter/bassist Chris Alcaraz started out in music as a four-year-old classical violinist, and has entertained audiences worldwide ever since. His professional gigs began at fourteen along with drummer and fellow Beatle nut Travis McNabb (Better Than Ezra, Sugarland). He later attended Arizona State University on a jazz scholarship and performed in the Symphony Orchestra. During this time he worked with Grammy nominee Joey Cadrecha and Grammy winning producer Mike Broening. As an accomplished blues musician, Chris also backed blues icons Joe Houston and Bo Diddley.

After graduation, his move to Austin, Texas meant delving deeper into fundamental American musical roots and laying down grooves with players from The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Asleep At The Wheel, Junior Brown and Texas Tornados. One night during a show, Ernie Durawa of the Tornados called Chris to the stage where he delivered his trademark powerhouse performance and was subsequently invited on his first international tour.

Within a year, Chris had relocated overseas to meet growing popularity and recorded his first solo CD. While these richly satisfying sounds clearly contain a mixture of back-to-basics melodic guitar-pop influences, the music's freshness and breadth takes it well beyond a mere combination of the artist's tastes. These are sincere, substantial songs that Dutch radio describes as having a warm familiarity they call "gezellig." Over here we just say it makes you feel good.

Though he usually escapes the heat with a European summer tour, Chris is back at home in Arizona where he has been performing and recording for the past two years with his group More Love. Comprised of some of the top musicians in the valley, More Love is a fantastic juxtaposition of styles. Check out the rest of the lineup...

German born guitarist/composer Peter Storn is well known for his expertise in blending the sounds of jazz, funk, blues, R&B, rock, and Latin into a tasty, expressive contemporary jazz style. Peter studied music in Germany and London, graduated from Musicians Institute in Los Angeles and studied jazz at Arizona State University.

Among others, Peter has worked with Gregg Karukas, Irene Cara, Dennis Rowland, producer Terry Marshall (who has produced Carl Anderson, Robbie Neville, and co-produced with Al McKay from Earth, Wind & Fire), and he collaborated and recorded with recording artist Cliff Sarde. He contributed two original tunes to Sarde's last two albums, with both albums placing in the Billboard charts. Storn's tune "J.M." (on "Dreams Out Loud", Passport Jazz) featured the piano work of Russell Ferrante of the Yellowjackets.

With a list of credits that includes a stint as a vocalist and congero for the Tito Puente band, Miguel Melgoza's soulful playing takes on a new twist with More Love. Witness his drumming on Chris' upright bass (& everything else in sight, for that matter).

When these three virtuoso instrumentalists from different backgrounds get together, something magical happens. Their musical cross-pollenation melds amazingly to create the uniquely beautiful sound of three different dialects of the same musical language exchanging ideas.
